Quentin Tarantino.  He's a good writer but sucks at film making.  After being told Pulp Fiction was like some postmodernist second coming of Christ, I barely made it through the first hour without falling asleep.
How can you fall asleep to that movie. These guys have great hair.

Some of Tarantino's stuff bored me. Pulp Fiction wasn't one of them.

If I remember right it's a PMC they run into in The Hurt Locker, not SAS. They were portrayed as being really well equipped but being unprofessional and poorly trained.

I'm not so sure about calling those directors 'overrated', I think for the most part they're just very high profile and they're good at making blockbusters. I doubt many critics regard them on the same level as the truly great directors.

Anyway some ratings:

The Perks of Being a Wallflower 8/10

Sunshine 7/10- was so good till the last third of the film

Hmm, my eyes are a little dry from working all through the night. I'll go watch T2 and cry at the end.

I could splash on some water but T2 is better.

Ted, not nearly as funny as I hoped/was led to believe. Pretty good overall. Almost a 7ish/10

So I was watching Prometheus last night and I've noticed two things about the crew.

According to the opening, there're 17 members.

Spoiler (highlight to read):

Milburn: Killed
Fifield: Killed
Holloway: Killed
Hangar Red-Shirt 1: Killed
Hangar Red-Shirt 2: Killed
Hangar Red-Shirt 3: Killed
Hangar Red-Shirt 4: Killed
Hangar Red-Shirt 5: Killed (Axed, but look closesly at the merc guy in Weyland's room in the next scene. I'm pretty sure that's him.)
Weyland: Killed
Ford: Killed
Shotty Merc: Killed
Janek: Killed
Chance: Killed
Ravel: Killed
Vickers: Killed

Now that's 15 crew. Shaw and David survive, so we get 17, but wait a moment.

At the end of Fifield's attack two Merc's speed off in the truck. Right after this scene we meet Weyland and with him is the merc supposedly already killed. I'm pretty sure that in the next scene as well, the same guy + one other appears outside his room and given how Janek took ages to come back, and was still wearing his spacesuit, it seems unlikely the new guy was one of the two in the truck. These four are never seen again at any point.

In summary, you can probably deduce that I'm bored

The Hobbit Pt1: 9/10

They really went above and beyond the call of duty with world building. There was a whole bunch of stuff that wasn't in the book, but most of it was pulled from accompanying material, and none of it really stood out like a sore thumb like the "if you want him, come and claim him" Arwen/Frodo bit in Fellowship.

It moves perhaps too slowly for people with short attention spans, but is otherwise watchable for all its immense length. Nothing at the end of the credits, if you're wondering. I'll definitely see it again before it hits BR.

Spoiler (highlight to read):
It ends EXACTLY where I thought it would. The eagle rescue and a flash of Smaug.

I think we already know you're not a LotR fan, but I could go off on Prometheus again if you want.

With lots of asian girls and bukkake and stuff. They should make a Filipino girl that looks like his ex the lead so we can hear him bitch for another five years.

Battleship 7.5/10

Enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. Didn't go in with huge expectations of course, but the battle scenes were pretty awesome. Also probably the closest thing we get to a Crysis movie so far.

WTF.  So boring.  They tried to make the North American Indians a twist but I saw it coming before they were even done with the misty boat sequence.  Boring, unimaginative piece of shit movie.  Characters were shitty and I didn't give a shit when any of them died horrible deaths.

Was that the really dark movie that started off in Scotland with a viking raid and stuff? If so, I turned it off after like 30 minutes. I usually like that stuff too.

No it starts off with some guy with one eye beating the shit out of other people in a low-rent gladiator mud pit.  He then escapes by killing his captors with a small rock, wanders around for a while then comes across some dudes going to the crusades.  After 30 seconds of trying to convince him in a language he doesn't understand he agrees and they get on a boat.  The next 45 minutes is them staring at each other on a boat shrouded in fog.  They land in America, think it is Italy and proceed to get their shit pushed in by Indians.
