Okay, this has been going on for two days now.

When I run special forces I get this message: mods/bf2/shaders/lighting.fx not found!!!_DO_check your working directory,_AND_sync your shaders folder before calling upon your local rendering program/GP. (really!)

This all happened after I installed the new patch and it worked just fine before. But can anyone make sense of this? I sure as hell can't.

well i got that error code when i changed my bf2.exe name...........you should check that name

i changed my bf2.exe : bf21.exe because some guy said it would help with something then when i started BF2 i got that error

you know, honestly, this tip never helped me, just added errors and lag.

I never remeber changing the name and I really don't know what the hell you're talking about, inform me. and If anyone would tell me how to FIX it, that would be nice.

I know you havn't but i could remember today that when i changed that name and started BF2, i got that error, atleast a error that looks 99% like that.

but in your Battlefield 2 folder, there is file named bf2.exe or only bf2 look if it looks that way

I dunno much about tech. stuff

go to your root bf2 and have a look at this patch

mods/bf2/shaders/lighting.fx << you should have file called "lighting.fx" there if you havent that would be your problem.

Fix you can ether ask 1 of your friends to give you that file

Or

Just reinstall and repatch the game should fix it.

okay figured it out, you could do as boris says which would work orrr....

Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2

go there and find the file labled 'Shaders_client' (it should be zipped) and put it in the 'shaders' file, unzip it. Now there should be a file called "shaders client" take them out of that and just put it in the Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2 file and it'll work fine.

okey that worked im not getting that stuiped message but now it just crashes bak to desktop so... now i just repatch? hope this works thanx

I had the exact same problem

all you do is:

In here:

C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\Shaders_client.zip

copy Lightning.fx and Rain.fx and copy them into here:

C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\shaders

and then it all works

hope I saved you a lot of time

Uh, okay, thanks everyone but I just had to reinstall the patch and It's been running for the longest time now. Please anyone don't post anymore becuase it will be a waste.
