I've only read Casino Royale and I haven't felt the need to read any more Bond books after that one.Dilbert_X wrote:
IIRC the books are all much of a muchness, fairly down the middle as a spy novel, the camp humour was never there I think, or the ultra-violence.
They do contain some of the camp humour, but not as obvious as clichéd one-liners. It's all very macho and masculine and Bond is the perfect spy and womanizer, but Flemming did try and give the character some emotional struggles here and there (which is about on par with the Craig movies, but it never happened with the previous Bonds) but all in all it's a very adventure driven book about the man all women want to be with and all men want to be.
I wouldn't recommend reading the Bond books unless the others are actually better than Casino Royale, but i doubt it.
