Didn't find it awful... Didn't find it particularly entertaining. Parts were pretty to look at, but it wasn't exactly an eyegasm movie. Would have felt I wasted my time if all I had to do was watch the movie... Was descent background entertainment while I worked on a couple projects though.

I thought Deathproof was OK, but a bit slow. The two-segment format was kind of strange. Given that I haven't seen it since, I give it a 6/10 for its genre (cheesy thriller).

Granted, this is pre-cgi, but it was definitely not John Carpenter's best work. Maybe it just hasn't stood the test of time very well.

The remake was atrocious I thought. There was a thread on reddit showing some of the pre-production animatronics they were planning to use and it's such a huge shame they decided to go with CGI in the end.

The original is a classic though o.O

I think I laughed at one single line in the entire movie. And by "laugh" I mean a single syllable "heh." Now I realize this was a kids movie, but I normally enjoy family nights when we have a modern big budgeted animated kids movie... But this was boring. And what made it an even lower score: My 4 year old was bored and didn't like it. My 10 year old thought it was ok, but not great. My 7 year old loved it. So I guess the sweet spot is somewhere between 5 and 9. Not a great score.

Interesting concept; has you pulling for and against the same guy simultaneously.

What amazed me was the subtle, but very effective make up and Gordon-Leavitt's ability to "become" Bruce Willis. Mannerisms, etc...down cold.

Did anyone else notice the rocket trail in the sky when Bruce Willis first appeared?

newbie, it's not your criticism, it's the fact that you keep going on and on and on and on about it.

How unmoderatorish of you to act this way. I must say, you've been acting snobbish lately, are you on your man-period or something?

Edit: changed a couple things.

May be stupid, but I'll probably watch it just for this.

Actually, I take that back. Looks interesting.

Will watch in Nov.

Oh, are we supposed to go on and on about it? Well I did forget to mention in my original post that this movie had the single most incompetent crew I have ever seen in a movie.

Spoiler (highlight to read):

Hey! We are going exploring! You aren't allowed to take guns when you explore!

Hey! The air is breathable here! Let's breathe it! I am sure there are no germs or microorganisms or anything to worry about... Afterall, we have scanning equipment that totally missed organic goo and snake aliens. Surely, it would have detected the alien flu.

Hey! A snake thing! Everyone is scared of snakes. It is built into our DNA. Probably by The Engineers. Probably to make us afraid of these very creatures. I want to pet it!

Hey! I have taken my mask off a million times now, but acid is melting it... Instead of getting the frick away from it, let me scream and run around in a panicked circle. This wouldn't have happened if I had been allowed to bring my gun.

Hey! Lets make our helmets ridiculously large and cumbersome. But let's make them out of glass that is more fragile than my grandma's 200 year old China. Don't trip and fall!!! (Diving, jumping, and rolling are totally ok though.)

Hey! Let's make the most sophisticated automatic surgery machine in history... But not program it for women... Even though we have several women on board, including the person leading this whole mission. The boss never likes to have a safety net.

Automatic Surgery Machine: I am only calibrated for men.
Woman: I don't care, I have a foreign object in my abdominal area!
Automatic Surgery Machine: Removing foreign objects from a man's body. Removing alien baby. Removing uterus. Removing ovaries...

Hey! I'm a squid. I don't need food to grow from football sized to elephant sized. I can do it in a sterile medical room!

Hey! I have 358 degrees of safe running directions... Oh, straight away from the giant thing rolling at me for 10 minutes was apparently not the right option. Maybe I should have stepped 2 yards to either direction. That is a REALLY narrow ship when you look at it from this angle. How is there even walking space in there? Hey, remember that scene in Austin Powers with the Steam Roller? This is totally like tha*squish*

Is that good enough?
