What economy in this world other than regions like Dubai have unbridled capitalism? From what I see in your arguments you seem to think it's black and white when it's not. Capitalism is great, I love having big companies like McDonalds or Wal-Mart put out affordable and quality products that i buy and grew up with, instead of having a grey business landscape with limited competition. But at the same time it spawns companies like these huge banks in this country that apparently are "too big to fail" and get millions of dollars in government bailouts.

Well technically you get a fine if you don't show up to the polling place, but you don't have to cast a vote.

It's pretty retarded.

the beautiful thing to see was rmoney's blatant FUCK YOU to the right wing, to be proud of romneycare, and abandon everything he's said in 6+ years of campaigning. he's totally rolling the dice that the extreme wing will not vote for obama, and finally is making his case to the 53%

whether i like it or not, the fact is Rmoney has stopped running from it, and finally owned it. he must have calculated that he has enough money in the bank that he can flip the bird to the teabaggers and extremists, some of which were his donors.

ok, i will type really slow, try to follow along.

i critiqued the debate.
i mentioned how rmoney's true middle of the road self was revealed, how he finally showed how centrist he is.

you asked some question that had nothing whatsoever to do about the debate.

i pointed out how Rmoney has calculated he has enough money to finish this race on his own, so he got off his knees, wiped off his chin, and in this debate finally even mentioned rmoneycare.

Then you said i was applauding rmoney (really?) and some blather about a hijacked, socially conservative movement that wasn't even mentioned in the debate.

i even included quotes, should you need to further review them.

most ceo's in the fortune 100 have humanities degrees. the fbi prefers philosophers to criminologists for problem solving and lateral thinking. yale/harvard law school prefers humanities graduates over mostly everything else.

"jobs". enjoy middle-management with your mickey mouse textbook degree.

Probably not true.
The 500 executives collectively earned about 465 college degrees, which means about 35 executives didn't graduate from college. Both Ralph Lauren and Sheldon Adelson (Las Vegas Sands Corp.) are among the CEOs who dropped out of college. But the Fortune 500 executives who completed both college and graduate school collectively earned about 200 M.B.A.'s and about 140 other graduate degrees.

kotaku is a shit source but oh well

AUGUSTA – Colleen Lachowicz, the Democratic candidate for State Senate District 25 (Waterville), has been living a time-consuming double life as a member of the World of Warcraft community. World of Warcraft is an online gaming network where people play a fantasy role-playing game in an imaginary world called "Azeroth."

Today, Colleen is playing at level 85–the highest level one can attain. Studies have found that the average World of Warcraft gamer is 28 and spends 22.7 hours per week playing.

Her character in the game is called "Santiaga," an Orc Assassin Rogue, and Lachowicz lives vicariously through her, making comments about World of Warcraft and other topics on the liberal blog, The Daily Kos. Here is a sampling of Lachowicz's comments:

"So I'm a level 68 orc rogue girl. That means I stab things . . . a lot. Who would have thought that a peace-lovin', social worker and democrat would enjoy that?!"
"Yes, I am seriously slacking off at work today. And I called my congresswoman's office today. And told them I would probably be calling everyday."
"I spent my day leveling my alt - an undead warlock…"
"I'm lazy, remember?"
"Now if you'll excuse me, I may have to go and hunt down Grover Norquist and drown him in my bath tub."
"Or my dream from election season last year where John McCain sat at my childhood dining room table and I reamed him a new a**hole about Sarah Palin."
"I like to stab things and I'm originally from NJ…. what's your f***ing point?!"
"Do not send me a campaign contribution or I will have to stab you! Seriously!"
"Yes, join us! We're progressive… in fact we joke about being a socialist guild."
"I love this diary because it sums up the teabagger mindset."
"These are some very bizarre and offensive comments, and they certainly raise questions about Lachowicz's maturity and her ability to make serious decisions for the people of Senate District 25," said Maine Republican Party spokesman David Sorensen.

That wouldn't really tell you anything as many business degrees are listed as a BA
the vast majority of business/finance-related subjects are BSc's. they slip in under the pseudo-science umbrella with many other spuriously 'scientific' subjects, such as sociology. it's because of the high-school level math and statistics; it becomes a 'science'. not really much arts/abstraction/big thinking analysis. i'd say 80% of business type subjects are awarded as BSc's. even total bullshit like marketing tries to lend itself 'credibility' in the academy by attempting to pass as 'scientific' study, i.e. involving the scientific method or empirical observation in the loosest possible definition of the term.

it's well known that top graduate-level law schools prefer people with the critical thinking and rhetorical skill and articulation of humanities degrees. undergraduate law courses are seen as a cash-cow, and there's much public moaning in the press (normally from law grads) about how the classics, history, englit, philosophy etc. graduates will swan in on fast-track graduate programmes and take the jobs (even on a basic functional level of grasping the legalese writing/jargon, and latinate terms... humanities grads have these fundamental skills of the profession on lock). i can't speak for mba's as i haven't read anything on the subject, but the mba doesn't strike as a particular gauntlet of merit, anyway. it's a career advancement accessory badge. not really the same intellectual lifting involved as with a juris doctor. business schools over here don't really have entry standards. it's just if you're willing to cough up the money.

it's also well known that humanities degrees and 'enjoy having no job' is a complete fallacy. recent articles i can remember reading myself are things like:

http://www.allaboutcareers.com/features … ies-degree
http://www.guardian.co.uk/higher-educat … -graduates

the whole 'humanities students serve fries' thing is a back-slapping comfort joke told by insecure business majors to one another. humanities and science students on the whole don't trouble themselves much with this question-- only people concerned with getting a degree 'so i can get a good job'. i.e. people not really interested in education at all. the vast majority of leaders, people in public service (judges, politicians, the press, etc.) have humanities degrees. in the uk and us humanities/liberal arts are largely the preserve of a cultural elite. the schools that specialise and have particular strength in humanities/liberal arts are typically the most selective schools in the nation (and the most expensive). why are business majors really telling themselves that a humanities student is never going to get a job? you're telling me mr. roc with his 'finance and accounting' textbook piece-of-paper/degree is set-up better for life than a philosophy major from amherst, or a liberal arts grad from oberlin or wesleyan? please.

again this is the age-old argument and self-congratulatory routine spread by the most insecure of science students (thankfully a minority), and most business/'real world subject' mongs. it doesn't have any reality to it. kids that have to study bar-graphs for 4 years and discuss marketing just like to comfort themselves with the illusion that humanities majors doing intellectually nourishing studies will be forever 'serving my kids fries'. ok. sure. this is mostly the boring rhetoric of the earlier-mentioned vein of anti-intellectualism that runs through american life. humanities is all thinking and all intellection, therefore people doing finance like to tell themselves it's 'pointless' and 'a waste'. lol. what they don't realise is that business and these new bullshit textbook subjects have only arrived in the universities about 50 years ago. you are there to make the universities more money t hrough tuition, and nothing more. they regard you as a joke. but ya, the humanities department that has been there for 300 years is a 'waste', and your mouth-breathing powerpoint course is the 'godmode'.
