a good amount of marbling is essential to a quality cut of beef.

fat (butter) is also added when cooking (preferably broiling)
No more oil (not butter) then when cooking beef. And I have no idea what broiling is.

its not toast.
Sear it in a grill pan, finish in the oven (if needed)

Broiling is typical in a high end restaurant for steak - even for rare/med rare. Butter permeates the meat more than oil but still gives it a good finish on the outside. l can see a pan for flat cheap cut of meat. Oil/cracked pepper is good on a Pittsburgh rareDrunkFace wrote:

You still sear it in a pan regardless. Preferably cast-iron.

Anyway, point was, that a marbled steak is really the only type of meat that stands up on its own sans sauce. You can do it with chicken too... but grilled chicken is bland

Or we have higher standards for steak. Gonna go with that.

Interesting that so many here seem to think the world is overpopulated. They bought Malthus's ideas. Considering the population AND food production increases since 1798, don't you think the theory merits a little critical examination?

If people care so much I wonder why VHEMT isn't a bigger group.

It is my opinion based what I understand that world is not overpopulated so much as just artificially propped up by cheap food made possible by the petrol economyRAIMIUS wrote:

The world is overpopulated with humans. If we acted in harmony with the rest of our ecosystem we could consider ourselves successful and adaptive. Instead we are like parasites. This is not part of the "green" ideology, this is fact.
And what are you personally doing to help the situation if you really believe that?Superior Mind wrote:

Who says I have to do anything? And who said anything about belief?
You seem to have very strong views on the subject. If you feel that you are a parasite what are you going to do to remedy the situation?Superior Mind wrote:
