I didn't know you could get a handgun in Canada... What's the process like?
have to get a non-restricted firearms licence.... then go through more background checks and another safety course to get the restricted firearms licence

after jumping through all of those hoops you will have to join a shooting range.... there's no law requiring this but the bureaucrat CFOs (chief firearms officers) have decided to refuse any transfers of restricted firearms unless you're a member of a club

after that you just buy the gun, it gets registered to you (the process can take up to a month depending on your province)

....oh yeah, you can only ever shoot it at the range... ever

It looks like a rifle case...
I'm a bit leery of combo locks built in, due to issues with a low quality case, but if it is well made, that shouldn't be an issue.
"Weather resistant aluminum construction?"  So, basically, it's aluminum and rain doesn't penetrate aluminum...

I prefer soft cases (bags). they're easier to get in and out of cars, closets, etc. Guns seem to shift around more in rigid cases. I like the bags that have a divider so you can put two rifles in one case.

I use my cases for transport to and from shooting only. So no locks are needed. If I was getting a rigid case I'd get one that takes padlocks, like Raimus I don't like the combination locks.

If you plan to ship your rifle look into a TSA (or airline) approved case.

cut-out solid foam holds the rifle more securely.

no argument there, but if I had a "cut out" case for every rifle I have I wouldnt know where to put them

I'm not arguing. I've got one pelican for my primary target rifle and 10 or 12 soft cases and a couple drag bags for everything else.  I was referring to the egg crate foam in the picture.

That's what I was referring to when I said that guns seem to shift around more in rigid cases. I've never owned a "cut out" case.

I got one of those M&P15-22's -- it's awesome. Since I have no desire to do anything other thank plink, being able to swap up to 5.56 isn't really a big deal for me (I actually had a rifle in that caliber and sold it to get this one.)

I cut the foam in mine, but the first case I had was egg-crate, but it also had straps in a few strategic places that made it "fits all sizes" without being a cutout.

I am relatively new to the gun scene so if someone could please explain to me how this works.

How do you swap up to 5.56?

Ok that makes sense, I was like how the fuck does a different size bullet travel in one size barrel lols.

isn't that costly? or did the gun come with swappable barrel and receiver?

My friend is trying to get me to buy a glock and get a .22lr conversion kit.

A regular AR-15, you buy a subcaliber adapter kit to convert from 5.56x45 (.223) to .22LR.
It replaces the magazine and bolt/bolt carrier/chamber with different parts, for about $250.

5.56x45(.223 Rem) and .22LR are the same diameter bullet - .224", so the barrel can work with both types of bullets.
Just have to change the chamber and action function (gas operated for 5.56, recoil operated for .22LR)

I rarely hear good things about .22 conversion kits for centre-fire autos.

Either buy a .22 or reload centrefire.

After 12 years, finally talked my wife into going shooting, even talked her into shooting my WASR10.

Result was all giggles.

We also fired my Taurus Millennium .40 and mossberg 500
My friend brought his Ruger P98 .40 ,Ruger .357 Revolver, 870 Express and Ruger 1022

Her favorite was my friend's 1022 which she fired like a baws.
