WASHINGTON — A security guard for a conservative Christian lobbying group has been shot in the arm in the nation’s capital.
Police Chief Cathy Lanier says a man walked into the Family Research Council in the city’s Chinatown neighborhood about 10:45 a.m. Wednesday and was confronted by a security guard, whom he shot. The guard and others wrestled the man to the ground and he was taken into custody by the FBI.
The FBI and police say it’s too early to know the circumstances of the shooting and whether it was connected to the Family Research Council’s activities.
I guess you can file this one under 'Almost'

Yes really.
At about 11 a.m., Corkins entered the Washington office of the Family Research Council, where he encountered the building manager, Leo Johnson, at the front door, according to a criminal complaint that cited a witness. Corkins "stated words to the effect of, 'I don't like your politics,' " the witness told FBI agents, according to the complaint.

Officials recovered a loaded Sig Sauer 9mm pistol and two additional loaded 9mm magazines, according to the complaint.
Inside the backpack, police found 50 rounds of 9mm ammunition and 15 Chick-fil-A sandwiches, the complaint says.
So yes that one was a failed mass shooting.
I am pretty happy this guy got caught. A mass shooting wouldn't be good PR for the gay rights movement.
