Still in open beta.

Have played a few F2P shooters in my time, however this smashes them all out of the water.. by far.

Customization in terms of character and weapon looks fucking deep - actually the weapon customization is reminiscent of GR: Future Soldier in that each individual part of your gun can be switched out, i.e barrels, magazines, optics, receivers and much more. Also there's the ability to edit your own logo and emblem, kind of Halo style. Armour is also customization to a deeper level than most F2P shooters, in that each individual body item can be changed, i.e, chest, legs, trinkets, helmets and etc etc.

Graphics are stunning - I'm currently running it on max and it looks fantastic. It's using DX11 along with all the plethora of DX11 features you'd expect, kind of reminds me of Crysis 2 - the graphics and style of the guns.

Gameplay is sorta deeper than most free shootemups, as there's a nemesis, rival, high threat system - along with a in-match point system, in that if you kill enough people or complete enough objectives, you gain points in which you can spend on perk-esque round improvements such as deployable turrets to giant mech suits. Excellent.

imo, a very good play for a free title and i can see myself playing this for a while

I played the first one a bit.
Controls were very clunky, especially aiming. You could get used to it after tweaking around the settings a bit, but it was very clear that it was a console game, which i normally wouldn't mind that much, but the aiming just felt the same as it did on the xbox. Just didn't feel right on PC.

Customization however is indeed really good and I had never encountered someone that was a higher level and seemed to be very OP because of all the things he would have unlocked. So balance was good.

If they make an improved version of 1 I might get it, since it is F2P

That actually looks pretty good, compared to paying for something like Brink.

F2P stuff has really come a long way, I wonder how long it will be until paying $50-60+ outright for a new game is a thing of the past. (i.e. - either subscription or F2P systems will be used)?

Might have to check something like this out after BF3 bores me to tears again in a couple of months.

Yeah scifi shooters have always been terrible. Like for example Unreal Tournament and Quake and Tribes and Deus Ex and whatnot.

let me revise that and say sci-fi "tactical" shooters (ADS, somewhat realistic movement, bla bla bla). There's quite a few of those out there.

Deux Ex I'd classify as more of an RPG.

those always just struck me as deathmatch games that I didn't even bother classifying the genre, haha.

If they can ever fix the lag, the basic concept and customization aren't too bad. But that could be a big if for an ftp game.

I can't tell which part I hate more, the lag or the servers disappearing. Other than that, it is actually pretty fun and I love customizing the weapons.
