If you're getting this for gaming, you definitely want an AMD processor.
Yes, I am getting it for gaming... but there was no option for it on teh Area-51 gaming pc....
Also, what is the dif between a full tower and a mid tower chassis?

I seem to like this one except for the Sempron processor, that AMD processor no offense sucks. For gaming stick with Athlons. Everything else looks very good.
I got the second one off of viciouspc.com, I have no idea who they are or if they are reliable or not... but they seem good, I tihnk I might get a pc from there if I dont build the one that max built on newegg.

The semperon won't stand up to an Athlon64, I don't trust BioStar boards (especially that this is Socket754 - 2 generations old now). Kingston memory is on its way out. Maxtor went ouf of business and were bought out by Seagate - one major reason is that their drives were not reliable. Good graphics card, fine burner, never heard of "ACE" power supplies. Cheap keyboard+mouse.
Definitely not worth $1100, hell probably not even $800.
Vicious make good high-end systems (from round-ups that I have read in the past) but that one just doesn't look that good.

Clashing opinions.. I just dont know, I just dont want to build it myself and want one for under 1400... does anyone know where to go? And the preference is to be able to play on high settings.
+1 for anyone who can find one that plays on high settings and is under 1400$ please

stick with the one I posted on top and build it yourself. It is the cheapest way out and not hard to do (with some help anyone can build a pc themselfs, just ask janus or me). You will also need some fans and possibly some AS5. The price/performance ratio just cannot be obtained with a pre-build system. You'll be lucky if you get simlar performance for 50% price boost
EDIT: agree with janus 2 posts above me. That pc is crap and the biostar mobo have a very bad reputation. Also the 3400 is a very bad choice (as janus said; 2 gen back)
EDIT2: live with it; if you want a good gaming pc (1000$ + if you diy) you need to build yourself or pay a 100% price premium

once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.
ok, well that sucks.... hmm... ok then, the one you built I will be getting the parts June 19th
thanks all

excellent. I will be updating the ~$1100 pc with fans and some AS5 to complete it.
Definitely go for the extra Ram. It'll do wonders for the game.
huh? there are already 2 gigs in the listLanceSavage28 wrote:

I'm gonna build a new rig soon. So far this is what I'm thinking about:
Mobo - ASUS A8N5X ATX (What the hell is firewire and do I need it? All I do is play BF2 and surf the internet)
CPU - AMD Athlon 64 4000+ (Not gonna overclock. Should I get the 3500+ and save like 150 bones?)
Video Card - eVGA Geforce 7900GT KO Superclocked
RAM - CORSAIR XMS 2GB (2 x 1GB)
*Subtotal: $922.98
I have a 380W power supply. Do I actually need to upgrade (and, if so, which one should I get)? Is 512 really that much > than 256 graphics? I like to get last year's models/slightly not so brand new for the savings. My current system is a shitty ECS mobo, AMD Barton 2800+, XFX 6600, and 2GB Kingston ValuRam. Needless to say I lag on 32 man servers at medium video settings.
I'd like to stay around $1000 but if there is some uber gain I could get for 1 or 2 hundred more, I'm game. Any suggestions?

A 380W PSU will crumble under a 7900GT and 2 Gigs of RAM....JimKong wrote:

So which one should I get? Does it really matter, just any ol' 600W?
