I'd give it a 7, with similar sentiments. Iron Man and Hulk were good, Capt. America has always been kind of meh, and (comic book) Thor is pretty lame IMO. But overall it was enjoyable for what it is - a big, loud summer blockbuster. Scarjo's ass is also always welcome, in any film or situation.

Prometheus 6/10 -it felt like 40 minutes of movie was hacked out of it. either that or the script was written by 5 people who hated talking to each other. the best visuals of the whole damn movie were in the first 3 minutes. otherwise it looked mostly like repurposed sets and CGI from Moon, Avatar and alien. not enough violence and gore to be excellent horror, not enough weirdness to be good sci-fi.

he does ok when he's got strong source material or a tight screenplay to work with. Damon Lindelof provided a shitty script, so ridley directed a shitty movie. pretty but shitty.

at this point I'm just hoping Lindelof doesn't single handedly destroy the New Star Trek film series with another of his intro to philosophy, packed with loose-end wrecks of a script.

There are glaring plotholes and unlikeable characters that are only in the movie to get killed. The writing is sub par at times and going into the movie it is kind of a letdown because it doesnt provide answers that were brought about from alien and aliens.

overall the atmosphere is cool and if you can get absorbed into the movie it should be fine

imo, director's job is, above all else, to make actors create actual characters and, with help from other staff, actual atmosphere out of whatever have been provided as screenplay. if that's done right any story can be turned into anything - horror, thriller, comedy, you name it. ridley scott did remarkable job in that regard on some of my all-time favorite movies. but prometheus was very disappointing.
