There's nothing wrong with antiques, or obscure wildcat cartridges which are basically the same as all the others.

And if people want to play Barbie with their guns thats up to them.

well, Dilbert, "playing Barbie" would explain that trigger guard on your panini, but I was trying to be polite.

Nice setup, Delta.
Was thinking of building something similar
Mega monolithic upper, mid length. Magpul grip/stock.
undecided between 6.5 Grendel or 300 AAC

Thanks,

Dad's building a 12" Stealth with a Noveske barrel in 300 Blackout.

Don't know if we're going with a AAC 762SD or a Surefire FA762K.

If it's a coin toss, why not throw the AAC on the 300 AAC?

Only real "gotcha" I've heard with the 300 AAC is that the subsonic loads require a 1:7.5 twist or faster.
Otherwise the accuracy goes to "minute of barn door"
(AAC approved subsonic load: 11.2gr AA1680, 220gr Sierra MK, case 1.368", overall length 2.089)

And, with a 12", you might want to look at a piston system.
12" barrel + suppressor + direct gas =
VERY dirty gas system,
whole rifle gets hot quickly,
short-stroke & general oversensitive timing issues from a carbine gas system,
and too much of that dirty hot gas comes spilling out past the charging handle into your face.

If you do go for a direct gas system, I think the gas ports are 0.075" for the 110-125gr supersonic rounds, and 0.100" for the subsonic 220gr

For a 20"+ barrel DMR on semi-auto, direct impingement gas system is more accurate than a piston, and the cleaning schedule isn't too horrible.
For a short barreled, suppressed, auto(?) rifle, the piston system is a perfect compliment.

I'll probably go with the 16.5"-18" barrel mid-length in 300 AAC myself.

Buying modular parts to build exactly the rifle you want is "playing Barbie"?

M'kay, then, that must make building your own pistol grips for a rimfire pistol akin to full-tilt My Little Pony hentai.

Its normal to make your own grips.

This is playing Barbie

Especially when you're not going to use it in anger or for competition.

dilbert, that's modularity.
only gunsmiths get pissy they can't charge $100 to put a part on an AR.

and making your own grips isn't normal, but whatever, have fun.

the majority of people using an M4 professionally aren't angry at their targets, and the majority of people at competitions aren't using a ton of accessories on their AR.

and, really, you could've used the picture of the AR with a dozen scopes and lights hanging off of it...  THAT is "geardo".

7.5/10
  • no suppressor,
  • no sling,
  • no close-range holosight on the primary scope,
  • no Surefire 9,678,923 round magazine,
  • no KillFlashes on the scopes,
  • no underbarrel MasterKey shotgun,
  • no grenade launcher,
  • no PSG-1 style adjustable shelf on the pistol grip
  • no"Zombie Apocalypse" stickers,
  • no TactiCool cammo,
  • no coyote brown or FDE plastic,
  • no angle/cosine indicator,
  • no level indicator,
  • no rear monopod
  • no 3rd scope ring (for extra stability)
  • no Israeli mag-stacker
  • no gauze wrap around the scope and fore-end (artic or desert camo)
  • no paint
  • no bayonette

It'd be hilarious to see a military M4 done up full "Geardo".
All of the above,
plus TWO grenade launchers (either side),
and an iPhone mount (ballistics computer, donchaknow),
and a Mk25 Mod X Sig Sauer P226 SOCOM Navy SEALS Combat Tactical Match Pro Custom Carry Competition pistol, in a holster, on the M4 rails

Oh DAMN

General Dynamics .338 Norma Magnum medium machine gun

https://militarytimes.com/blogs/gearscout/wp-content/blogs.dir/5/files/gd-338-lwmmg/wimg_1766.jpg

It weighs as much as an M-60 (25 lbs), has 95% the range of an M-2 .50 cal, and launches bullets slightly bigger and longer ranged than the .338 Lapua sniper rifle.

Imagine a .338 Lapua sniper rifle.
Now make it full auto.
Now make it belt fed.
Now make it the weight of a machine gun with 1/3rd the range.

Got my CCW.

Dude at the class had a brand new Kimber Ultra. Never shot it and didn't lube it up. Pretty much had no clue how to operate a 1911. Had to show him how to disassemble and properly lube it.

It was a shit show.

Now make it (the new machine gun) weight as much as a lighter machine gun, the M-60. This lighter machine gun, the M-60, weighing as much as the new .338 Norma machine gun. The M-60 has 1/3rd the range of the new .338 Norma machine gun, yet weighs the same.

338 Norma - same great weight, now with 300% of the range and 200% of the bullet weight!

I've already put about 1200 rounds through this USP the past few weeks. Still have about 600 rounds to finish before I leave.

The Combat Competition is an awesome shooter.
