I just bought a pair of the Definitive Technology BP7006 speakers.

They're on sale at Vann's right now for $300 each. One hell of a deal: buying $1300 speakers for $600.

Those were the "in" colors of the time.  Think disco and roller skates.

Had to buy one of these as that hard drive I got from eBay turned out to be IDE. The autofill form filled it in as SATA, and the guy apologised about that.

They're handy for old drives, but suck if you want decent cable management, or have a case with side-mounting hard drives.

Yeah I know, it's only until I can afford a new SATA drive, then this one will get chucked in my server.

Yay - new computer on the way. Anyone played with the Z68 SSD caching wotsits yet?

I wanted to, but didn't get a chance. Since it only allows you to cache a certain amount of space and I have a 128GB SSD, I was hoping I could create a new partition on the drive and cache to that. But as it turns out, you can't.

So instead, I'm running a SSD for Windows and my primary applications, and everything else on a 3TB drive.

The 2 spare 32GB SSDs I have should be about perfect though I'm hoping. One for caching and one with a preinstalled Windows image on so I can reinstall ultra fast (to system disk running on a PCI E SSD) whenever I need to.

That's the plan anyway.

Your OS should be on the physical drive you want to link to the SSD cache drive.

At least that's the way I remember it.

I certainly hope not. That would be rather pointless.

From what I understand you simply select the drive you want to accelerate from the RST utility, which for me will be storage drives.

My OS and apps will be running on far faster drives than the SSD I'll be using for caching.

After a few minutes scanning through uncertain, circuitous threads like this one on anandtech and other sites with people who aren't really sure but think it can be done, I've simply changed my opinion to "I don't know."

But if it works for you, tell me and the first thing I'll do is snatch up a 64GB SSD to cache this 3TB mofo.
