C) I have never heard of any politically affiliated summer camp. Ever. Religious? Yes. Political? No. Politics and children are a big no no here.

So yes, I found the whole thing weird, and I said as much whenever this story first came out. Again, I don't agree with indoctrination of any sort and it really surprises me that you all seem to find it to be hunkydory. Instead of saying 'hey, wait, he might have a point', you keep going on and on and on about how America is awful. Whatever.
Most summer camps have some vague political connection at least and they go more extreme from there.  Parents will send their children to places that tend to agree with their political philosphies and theres no getting around that.

It really isn't  big fucking deal either way since it is the parents that introduce the political ideas and the camps that only reinforce them.

You've just had multiple people tell you the same thing. It doesn't fucking matter anyway. Beck's camp is just as wrong as the Norwegian one. I don't care if the spirit is positive about public service yadda yadda. Political parties should have nothing to do with children. Period. End of story. Children should be left to be children, not exposed to the blackhearted individuals that enter politics and who will exploit them at every opportunity. Let that wait until after they become adults.

it's not indoctrination
it's not indoctrination
it's not indoctrination

they are not young impressionable children

the thing you said about summer camps being for young kids/teens/adults to get together and sit around a campfire, kissing girls... is EXACTLY THE SAME THING THEY HAVE IN NORWAY. there's even a pathway on utoya island named colloquially by the kids that visit every year as "lover's walkway" or something, because it's just what the young people there do. you're picturing them in matching tan uniforms marching around singing socialist marching songs and praising the government - that just isn't so. it's a summer camp organised by the government to encourage young people to take part in their society, and to be politically active and socially engaged. there's nothing indoctrinating about it. there's nothing to say that everyone at that camp is a devout party-person and will vote for the ruling political party for the rest of their lives. it's a summer camp simply for people that take an interest in civics and politics. you're making out it's like a north korean propaganda camp or something. it's just not true.

why won't you listen to what you are being told? can you not accept being factually wrong?

also where did we say "america is awful"? you came into this discussion about a massacre saying norway is awful for organising camps. nobody said anything about america. nobody gives a fuck about america. i linked you an example because you act like your own shit doesn't stink when you have political summer-camps AS WELL. this discussion isn't about america and, frankly, we could give a shit if you guys have young republicans or tea-party associations.
please read this more than once and come up with a thoughtful reply that is actually relevant

A documentary on Utoya the other day spoke to 2 of the surviors and they basically said they only went because it was known as a the "best place to hookup". That and to be indoctrinated into the almighty Euro Neo-Marxism movement.

lol. jay thinks that we're like a different sort of human being over here. young people going to summer camps? must be to dress in hitler youth outfits and invoke norse mythology! american late-teens going to summer camp? ah man it's just to get drunk and have a good time at the lake. incredible.

I am jaded. I think politicians are the lowest form of pond scum. I think the divide and rule concept that our political parties have manifested is disgusting. Do I want political parties banned? No, but I wish they would die on their own already. I'm just really, really sick of the Red Team - Blue Team rah rah shit. The thought of vapid idealistic kids being turned loose on the world to chant party slogans makes my stomach turn.

i really think everyone is taking the camp thing a little too ideologically...

this was a summer camp organised by the norwegian labour party, yes, who historically have a role in the community. it's what labour parties are all about, after all. it's like boy scouts or something. it's a quasi-political summer camp arrangement simply to give young members of the society an opportunity to take part, network, and most of all have fun. it's not some ideological training-ground like a christian bible camp is. they're not reading socialist tracts every day like a christian bible camp will read the bible. it's mostly an excuse for a bunch of young adults to get together during summer and have a great time at the lake. only it's meant to be productive and positive, and to contribute to an individual's sense of citizenship and civic pride. there's nothing outwardly political about it. it's not some camp training everyone to be a labour voter.

where are they chanting party slogans? please show me some proof that the utoya summer camp was getting its visitors to chant party-political slogans.

this is my entire fucking point. you are talking out of your ass. misrepresenting what the summer camp is really about. talking utter bullshit about something you quite evidently know nothing about. just empty hot air and a load of getting angry at nothing but your own personal grievances, as per usual.

jay you are being extremely evasive here, aren't you? just putting down our complaints to the fact we don't like you? no, we're telling you you're wrong about the summer camps because you're actually wrong. we're not arguing for the sake of it. we're arguing because you don't know what you're talking about. you're so evasive all the time in d&st, it's cute. always bowing out with the "whatevers" and "okay i'm going" or the "added to ignore script lalala" line. why do you even bother? you say terminally stupid shit and then don't want to actually listen to people's responses to you. in that respect you are worse than lowing: at least he came back to reply and try to maintain an argument.
