I never said I was owed anything by anyone. I got paid for the job I performed. I don't march in parades or beg free drinks off of strangers in bars with my tales of military service.
As for a free ride, what free ride? Part of the terms of my enlistment was money for college. It was nothing more than deferred payment for services rendered whilst off doing whatever the politicians in Washington decided was important at the time. I traded four and a half years of servitude for a four year college degree plus the pittance they paid me while I was on active duty. It's no different from an employer offering to pay for someones grad school in return for service.
But yeah, I'm a total leech on the system.
