I need to find a stock to invest "10,000" in for a class project (obviously the 10 grand is imaginary).

It must be traded on the NYSE, AMSE, or NASDAQ. Anyone got some winners?

I still dont understand why they teach you some of this complicated stuff.  Should just concentrate on the basics so school leavers can do simple maths in their head

I appriceate that and good luck to them.  Do these engineers or nasa astronauts use more algebra or common sence to work things out?

Best thing I ever learned was 'cooking' I was the only boy in the year who took it and had the piss ripped from me.  Its something I use everyday and is a life essential but also a basic

Everything engineers do revolves around algebra...

Oh behave yaself, Im not buying that for one second.  Computers will always do the hard work, you just to understand how the software works and grab ya spanner and go and tighten up the bolt that is loose.

Its why for eg, Cars have engine management lights.  Ya car is wonky, you pull in to the garage, the guy plugs it into the wall and tells you what the computer is telling him.

Nothing like the good ol days

umm... engineers use a lot of algebra on a daily basis and its one of the most practical mathematics subject.

Everything is algebra, man. Everything has variables. Engineers have a different name in the UK. Here, they're the guys that design machines, buildings, electrical systems etc. Not the guy that comes over and fixes your dishwasher or your car.
