penalty kicks are a stupid way to decide футбол games. should just go to golden goal after two et periods.

golden goals are are load of shit.

if you lose a penalty shootout then you deserve to get the boot, best way to decide a stalemate always will be.

You can't really play even more extra time after the 30 mins are up unless you allow more substitutes, and golden goals during extra time is a bad idea because it means you get boring careful defensive play. Penalty shootout is the only real way to settle a football match that has ended a draw after 120 minutes, unless you decide to take the game to a replay.

penalties are the same load of shit. note that we arent talking golden goal immediately, just if they can't settle it after half a hour of normal extra time. replacing stupid penalties which arent influenced by the whole team with golden goals which are. both of cruel and really based on luck but golden goal is better measure of the team.

its also so funny when strikers celebrate a penalty goal like they did something impressive (ie score a real goal which a penalty goal most certainly isnt).

golden goal leads to either 11 men in defense for both sides, or 22 men on the floor crippled because you get no more subs

nah mate.

and even then you cant argue that celebrating penalties is proper. like in the north london derby when adebayor scored the penalty and started acting like he cured cancer. he didn't do shit. he didn't even flop to get the penalty called since bale did. all he did was take a kick that goes almost 90% of the time. aint shit.

and really, why is golden goal so bad?

You have absolutely no chance of coming back, you could dominate an entire match and one bit of luck or the ref giving a wrong decision and the game is over then and there. Atleast in a penalty shootout even if you miss a penalty your goalie can save a penalty of the opposition will miss one, it's not all over in a split second.

oh so it makes the teams really risk averse? that's a shame. penalties are a shit way to decide the game. maybe move penalties back to the edge of the 18 so its a bit more about skill?

if you knew anything about football you would know they're celebrating the fact they're ahead and not that he scored an amazing goal and everyone should bow down in eternal worship.  At premiership level standard of football, being ahead is a BIG deal.  You would know this if you've played the game.....i would say your actual playing experience is limited at best.

Plus taking penalties is not down to luck, its still a certain level skill and nerve to score them.

It then becomes dead ball free kicks from that distance.

Its not as easy as it looks! seriously, those goal keepers are trained relentlessly for penalties, they study the damn opposition strikers video footage for the last million matches played to find which side the favor, their run up, which foot they prefer etc add the pressure of the club and fans and any financial incentives that may be lost.....

It's like scoring a last minute winner, but it just happens to be after 5 minutes of a 30 minute extra time period, no fun, one team feels devastated and cheated while the other team can't believe their luck.

don't worry, i've watched enough футбол to know that 1-0 is a great lead. they certainly showboat a lot for simply celebrating their team's lead.

i know penalties arent entirely luck, its just that in a penalty shootout one goal can make the difference, and that can be as simple as someone slipping or the goalies foot catching the ball or something.

and yes, i'm aware penalties aren't simple and that keepers prepare, but despite this most are scored. the striker clearly has a massive systemic advantage.

also, that wouldn't a be a free kick because there is no wall.

Rumour has it that a unidentified woman in china has been taken to the hospital with severe head injuries after being hit by Charlie Adam´s penalty.

dont need a wall to be classed as a free kick.  from that distance it will be nigh impossible to score all except the dead ball specialists.

there also should be enough team members on either side comfortable with striking/attacking capabilities to take a penalty, whether they have the bottle or maybe even energy to take one is another story.

Yeah a dead ball one-on-one from that distance massively favours the goalkeeper.

Yeah I hate that when players celebrate winning a penalty, love it when they subsequently miss it.
