Ya probably.  Also I liked the skill system in Oblivion.  I fuckin hate having to choose between light or heavy armor when there are a limited amount of perks.  I preferred just leveling up stuff by using it.

Also the whole geography gets kind of boring after a while.  Oblivion had swamps, Nord mountains, pastures, etc.  Maybe I've got rose tinted glasses.  Can't wait for Fallout 4 tho.

I think Skyrim's a lot better.

Oblivion was good for its time, but Skyrim beats it in every respect.

It's like how Oblivion was better than Morrowind.

Oblivion had a much better skill system. Skyrims just feels dumbed down.
But as far as magic and UI, there are several mods to fix that. Like Midas Magic and about 100 UI mods.

The only problem I have with the UI is the fact that switching out your right hand spell basically requires you to equip and then unequip a right hand melee weapon.  They should have made an "unequip" button, rather than making it a toggle function.  Either that, or dual toggling should require pressing both mouse buttons at the same time, instead of the cycling through with the left mouse button.

Too bad only modders can put all the GOOD things together.

This, pretty much. Good mods could be anything from texture packs to new kinds of food.

anything interesting in terms of gameplay.  i dont really care about having a prettier tree or new kinds of food, i dont ever eat anything.  something to add fun missions, add new areas, make dragon fights more interesting, add something fun and new to the game.

- Midas Magic for some extreme fireballs
- Unkillable sidekicks so you don't have to worry about them during a fight
- I forget the name of the mod, but was one that upped the survivability of dragons, making them less prone to getting owned by npc's
- Another mod that increases the frequency of dragons appearing
- Faster horses
- a mod that forces you to eat, rest, and the like.

and for some

- Cosplay mods.

Do you have the name of the mod that does this?

I wonder if they've come out with a mod that populates the rest of the Elder Scrolls world with buildings and people and quests and such, I posted a video a while back where somebody no-clipped and found that all the basic geography was there for each region outside of Skyrim's borders

Does Skyrim not have a hardcore mode?  I could've sworn it did but I could also be getting confused with New Vegas

I'd rather they be rare encounters, but smarter and more difficult to kill. And not fly off to kill a rabbit while I'm throwing lightning at them.

- Faster horses
I hope we can fight from horseback soon.

Is that another game or a mod with really shitty graphics?

Mount & Blade: Warband

Low budget, but with a combat system and damage physics that kick ass.

edit: here's a spiritual successor to the Mount & Blade games (though M&B 2 is being made)

Looks like the exact same kind of game, but doesn't show off as much cavalry as I'd like to see.

Way less glitchy than Skyrim. I could go on about all the things I'd like to see out of M&B, but I can find them in Elder Scrolls. What it does do well, and better than Skyrim, is combat. You can parry in four directions (automatically or manually), and speed/weapon weight (I believe the latter counts) greatly influences the damage of a hit. And it had a solid core of players online.

Skyrim...after all the complaints about crappy horses in Oblivion, they go and port the same kind of shit over.

Fail.
