Computer lock up crash

Anyone get random crashes ingame where the computer will completely lock up with ctrl+alt+del not even working and having to do a reset by pressing the power button? It happens to me everyday and I've tried everything from ending process, changing the bf3.exe process priority ingame, and doing everything suggested on the EA forums. Can someone help me? This happens randomly right in the middle of games sometimes when im playing with friends and its annoying.

tried changing what cores it can run on? that worked for me on BC2 sometimes

Haven't gotten any in a while.

Was really bad when I installed more memory.

I changed settings in BIOS from OC, to Auto. (For Memory)

Cleared up my lockups.

How do you access the BIOS for Windows 7 on an HP computer?

I tried searching before and nothing helped.

I think you press F1 during the blue HP screen for setup. (Not exactly sure)

Guessing that may not be your problem, if you haven't changed any settings in your BIOS already.

Your settings are probably already set to default, or auto.

Hope someone else has a better idea.

Make sure Windows is completely up to date, along with all the drivers for your hardware. Re-install your video drivers, then defrag your HDD.

On most pre-built computers/laptops most significant BIOS options are locked anyway.

I assume you've tried this already, but when I was having crashing issues a simple Origin "repair install" fixed it for me.

ok that bios thing lbj said is just wrong. try f2, del, f1, end, or search google. but i doubt its a bios settings. the best way to fix random crashes is to start by reinstalling/updating your drivers, if the problem persists you'll have to do a complete windows reinstall. if the problem still persists, it may be a hardware related issue, memory, etc. good luck!

if that doesn't work I'll reinstall windows

since the BIOS thing doesn't seem to be the problem to you guys.

Yeah I will if the 1st thing doesnt work. I obviously rather not have to redownload all my music and movies and back up all my important files if something else can work.

Just dealt with this bullshit. EA Tech support isn't very helpful. After a lot of reading and sluething it is more then likely the audio drivers. Especially if you have Realtek onboard sound.

I uninstalled the Realtek driver and let Windows download its own HD audio drivers and since then the game hasn't frozen yet.

Not sure when its been happening to you but mine started doing the hardlock/freeze since Jan 31st. I had no issues until that day, and there was a few updates to Battlelog/BF3 so I don't think its a coincidence...

It started like after a month or so since the release date. Been dealing with it for a while but it's gotten worse lately.

I think I have realtek as well I'll check when I get home.

Checking for faulty memory or HDDs should be easier to do than a Windows re-install.

Checked and I only have a Realtek network adapter device no sound driver

yo what's the difference between reformatting and just doing a simple system recovery?

Not restore, a recovery that puts the computer back to how it was when i took it out the box.
