The Samsung 7000 series (2D) and the 8000 series (3D) are supposed to be the same basic tv in screen architecture... But the 8000's 2D picture is probably the best looking tv on the market right now in my opinion... (Without getting into OLEDs and such) It looks better than the 7000 consistently... I don't really like Panasonic TVs, or Samsung or Toshibas for that matter, they all look like shit and the latter two have unintuitive/slow menus. I'm starting to see that Vizios are really nice though and they're very affordable compared to other brands
That being said, you are adding 3D, plus several hundred dollars, and also loses a very few features such as number of inputs (The 8000 doesn't have a DVI input, if that actually matters to you), etc... So the bottom line comparison:
More money + 3D + Slightly better picture.
vs
Save Money + Comparable picture + a couple more bells and whistles.
The caveat: Best Buy has the 8000 on sale cheaper than the 7000 right now.
