you can go 6gig or 12gig
you have a triple channel i7 but only 4gb of ram?Lucien wrote:
not a bad idea really, my 4gb of ram is starting to be too little. I have a triple channel i7 though so I'd need 3x2gb..
for a fatty you're a serious intellectual lightweight.
This was right when i7s and ddr3 came out, shit was expensive. Must be ~3 years ago now? Wasn't easy to afford it when I was still in high school so I cut corners with the RAM
I mean would triple channel ram really make a difference?

Oh I see. What sticks do you have? 2x2gb? Which will be running in single channel?Lucien wrote:

Yes it will make a difference. If you think about ddr2, if you have one stick of DDR2 800mhz and you just use that, then it's not going to use its dual channel capabilities, it will run at only half that.
Triple channel, I'm sure, is the same.

Pretty sure it'll still run dual channel
it wouldn't go from 3->1 if it had the capability of 2
2 goes from 2->1 because there's nothing in between.

Bought a Samsung 23" S23A700D Monitor. Samsung, 23", LED, 3D, 120Hz and 2ms sounded pretty good to me
My 22" LCD is 4 years old now and has seen better days. Pretty keen to see what this monitor is like. It has the same panel as Samsung's more expensive 750D and 950D monitors it just has a more traditional bezel and HDMI instead of DP, worth the $100 saving since I don't really like the look of the 950D's stand/bezel anyway.

Corsair 500R Case.
Cable management, airflow, etc. all seem really good. It was about $100 on sale, which is more than I've ever spent on a case, but I think it's worth it. Not really a fan of LED fans, but that's pretty much my sole complaint.

2x 7970 to replace my 3x 5870s, I may add them in my water cooling loop or pick up a third one later.
That's like nearly £1000
