My Grandma agreed to buy me a new motherboard for Christmas (I'll get it when I see her soon).  But I can't decide which motherboard to get.  I want a new one to replace my ASUS p8H67-M PRO since it is not OCable.  Thought it was OCabl.

Current Specs:
Motherboard: ASUS P8H67-M PRO
HD: 750GB 7200 RPM HD
SD: 120GB Intel 320 SSD
Video Card: Nvidia Geforce 590 GTX
RAM: 8 GB DDR3 1600mhz RAM
CPU-Intel i7 2600k stock
Push/Pull 120MM fan 2x
Liquid CPU Cooling
Mid size case

Here some of the mobos that I'm interested

Asus P8P67 DELUXE 210$
Asus P8P67-M PRO 120$
Asus P8P67 PRO 170$
Asus P67 SABERTOOTH 200$

All I want is to OC my CPU to 4.5, maybe higher and I want to pick the best MOBO for the money.  SLI is not needed as I have a 590.

Since you have a SSD you would be best off with a Z68 board to be honest.

Something like the ASUS P8Z68-V would be good.

Take a look at the features on each and decide if it's what you want. A good showoff board is the Sabertooth, if you can get one of the top-down fans for it.

Depends on his config. The SSD is bigger than what you can allot to an SSD cache. I'm fairly happy with running Windows and other common apps on a ~120GB, and have 20GB free on it right now.

I read it has double booting problems (for the minority of people) and isn't the topdown fan like the 5$ 50MM?

What? Are you trying to say that SSD caching works exclusively on 60GB SSDs?

Why not go for an Z68? I don't know about in the states, but here you can get Z68 boards around the same price as P67. You're getting extra features without really needing to outlay any more cash.

Yeah I have a 160GB SSD and have all my main apps/OS on there. Simply pointing out that the Z68 chipset at least gives him the option.

With the Z68 board, he can choose to partition part of his SSD to use as cache, while using the rest of the SSD as a normal OS/apps drive.
That way he can potentially get the best of both worlds.

Noctua has a decent one that's a bit more than that. Goes well with the Sabertooth. If you want an extreme overclocking board, you're going to be spending some dough.

One of my buddies is enjoying his Maximus IV, but $340 is unfair to foist on a grandma.

Won't the sabertooth make temps go down from OCing?

and doesn't the Z68 just add the integrated video OC that the H67 had and the P67 didn't?

Yes the Z68 only adds integrated video, and SSD caching (when compared to the P67). But considering you can get them for around the same price i'd still go for the z68

z68 adds some functionality but is not really required if all you want is overclock your CPU. p67 would do just fine. as LBJ pointed out, see if there's a noticeable difference in price (it's quite obnoxious were i am) - if there isn't, might as well go for z68.
if you open your mind too much your brain will fall out.
