um dude there's a big difference between the category 'aesthetics' and being an 'aesthete'. aesthetics is just a term to describe a general branch of philosophy/art, not a self-descriptive label. current post-postmodern (there is no name for this period really) aesthetics dissolve the distinction between form/function and style/substance. in fact that was one of the main constructs that postmodernism set about deconstructing from the 1950's onwards. if you wanted to be really philosophical, you could say that the "huge divisions" that you speak of really are just divisions nominally of language fuck yeah analytics
