Oh, BTW I work with a lot of the "Super Smart top 3% of their class" type people from other countries in Europe (Intel is big in to hiring these people away) and I can say that they are no better than American engineers taught in America.  But of these people the ones from France seem awfully good, not kidding, they do something right over there.  Oddly enough though most of the ones from France are women it seems like.
Well, I don't think counting the top of a field is going to give you any accurate view of the distribution and quality of workers of any field. It mostly comes down to the individual areas. For example, getting a simple electricians education here in Denmark will more than fully qualify you as an Electrical Engineer in the US, whereas you have to study four more years here for that, while a Danish Computer Science education wouldn't hold a candle to any CompSci degree from any half-way decent US college.

All countries have there dumb people. But yes I would say that a big percentage is downright dumb. Many smart people here too. So don't think were all dumb.

EDIT: Oh to the couple posts above, at my school you have to have a certain GPA to be in the sports activities after school, but kids still get to to be in the regular sports stuff in there schedules. Fat kids still get to be in sports but it's there (and parents) job to make sure there not fat.

I lived in Germany for 3 years when I was younger (12 - 15) and spent a lot of time traveling Europe.  I would say, based on the people I met while I was there, that every country has their fair share of stupid people.  I don't think America has more stupid people than any European country.
The education systems are definitely different, though.  I didn't go to a German school while I was there, but it seemed to me from talking to my friends, etc. that it was a lot tougher than in the US.  Of course, there is also a high suicide rate in Germany around the age when a kid has to decide whether to go to Uni, trade school, etc.

You cant be Serious....
he sure is...

the major flaw in the american education system (for most americans) they dont learn enough about where countries are located... which i knew when i was around 10... thats what makes americans looks like idiots
Um.. how about you all go fuck yourself, i am in 9th grade right now and we have "geography" class, in this class we have learned where europe, africa and asia is, we have learned most all of the countrys within those regions and we have also learned some history and some knowledge of the governments. I dont know who the hell you are talking to when you get this info.... maybe you were in kentucky? , But not all americans are "unintelligent" and stupid, its the ones who chose to be this way. For me, i choose to be one of the smart americans.

This quickly went from discuss to "OMG I R SO FUNY I MAKE TEH FUNY JOKES DAT AMRCA DUM LOLZ". Okay, how about enough of the jokes and more of the fact that AMERICA IS A BIG PLACE WITH A LOT OF PEOPLE! Law of averages people, cmon, there are a LOT of people in America! There is going to be a proportional amount of people who are really stupid. Most people just notice the really dumb people and ignore how many incredibly intelligent people there are in the country.

Goddamit can you all just look at the video once more? It's a parody and those are actors. It says "CNNN" YES WITH 3 N's look closely. Read the scroll bar on the bottom, it's full of useless comments, things that would not be reported actually on CNN. CNN has a different layout than the blue template. the CNN logo does not have that little dot to the top right.

It's a parody, like the Jay Leno skits where people pretend to be ignorant for humoristic viewing pleasure.

Unless CNNN is an actualy australian news channel, please correct me if it is, this video is just humor.

Please don't take it as gospel.

Actually, American school systems are worse than I originally thought.  I was talking to my neighbor, who happens to be in 8th grade at a public school.  He was reading something to me and did not know what a Roman Numeral was.  That is pathetic!

I think the other big thing about people in America is they do not know how to use grammar or spelling.  Sometimes I wish I did not live in America.

yanks are really dumb...you ask them to locate any other state then the one they live in on a map and they are clueless. Ask them to point out Iraq or Iran on a map...bet you a $1 they cannot, but yet they claim to be smart.

In certain parts of the US, "the train" is an expression for a nonstop flight.

Sure I just made that up, but it had you thinking for a minute.  Didn't it?

meh my spelling also sucks at times.
Depends on how much i care about what im writing.

btw tbh i think its normal that people dont know what roman numerals are.
That aint a thing that most schools teach in their history class and the ones that do go over it briefly.

i think a big chunk of the people that know what they are know it either from games or cause its a thing that interests them.
that or they are like me and watch discovery channel before they go to bed.

I'll take that bet.  Let's make it a hundred.

Something to consider though.  Given the size and geography of the US vs Europe, the average European can make international travel a weekend jaunt.  For Americans, it's considerably more difficult.  I can assure you that the "Average Dumb American" is going to have a significantly higher understanding of US geography because that is what they have familiarity with.

For instance, I live in Chicago, it will take me at least 6 hours of driving to get me to the nearest international border (Canada).  If I were living in Munich (that's in Germany), I could be in Italy, France, Belgium, or half a dozen other countries in an equivelent amount of time.

How many Europeans can point out Iowa or Indiana out on a map?  I'd guess about the equivalent to your challenge above.  (I can't tell you how many Europeans I've met who were surprised to find out that Chicago isn't a US state).

Enough griping...More shooting... See you in the game!

Okay, I guess we were taught Roman Numerals in math class.

I try to get my spelling right most of the time, because I feel it has an effect on how people view me and my intelligence.

About the Ireland thing brought up earlier, I know of cities in states with names such as Cuba and Brazil and so on.  So if one was having a casual conversation with another and the the other said they were from Cuba, the first might assume they meant a city up the road.  On the other hand, I do not know how the conversation took place so I can not really say much about it.  Just some generalizations.

The way I see it is most europeans are very ungrateful for what Americans have done for them.  Remember that France and England, if it wasn't for our american butts not turning a cold shoulder on you, you'd most certainly be speaking another language right now.. GERMAN you'd be bowing down to one of the great psychopaths in history so if it weren't for use stupid ass americans you wouldn't be typing shit here on this message board.  Go visit Normandy and walk through the row upon row upon row of americans who DIED for your fucking asses who are probably turning over in those graves because of the ignorance that falls out of your mouths and your finger tips.

Yes we're stupid, stupid to help out sorry ass countries who can't get the freaking heads out of their asses, putting our necks on the line in the name of freedom like we owe the world that task.  We're stupid because we care about our fellow humans, there will be a time when that caring will run out it may not happen in our lifetime but it will run out a time when we need to take care of our own and leave you in the cold.  So chill the hell out with the "who is less intelligent" bullshit.

Oh and onother thing take your fucking holiday in some other warm sunny location, like Iraq, yep we're the dumb ones keep bringing your worthless money here buying our products seeing our movies eating our food, keep it up we're the ones getting richer.  Keep going to Disney and Busch Gardens SeaWorld Six flags and all of those great places you DON'T have keep it coming we are enjoying all of the monetary contributions you make in that way, thank you.

Stats show that people with a low IQ voted for Bush... and people witjh a normal to high IQ didn't.... Bush is in power... you do the math.

Sounds harsh, but i dont mean to say ALL Americans are stupid.... just some... a few... lots... well just over half.

I completely agree.  When I was in Europe with my sister, the Germans would ask us where we were from.  My sister was from CA, so they knew that, however had no clue where Iowa was (where I'm from), and I had to tell them it's to the west of Chicago.  Aside from education issues, I think it has to do more with arrogance and prestige.  Just like within the US, many NYCers aren't as familiar with a lot of the US, however most of the US is familiar with NYC.

Although both funny and sad, you do realize that it's a taped event, so the people selected and edited for the clip are the worst of the lot.  I could take a fake news crew to ANY country in the world, find a location of "regular" people, edit out the ones who knew what they're talking about, and then mock them for tv.  Anyone who believes all (or most) Americans are like this are just as dumb as those in the video.
