I got Oblivion as a gift. I didn't like it. Like meth said, it's to tough get the hang of really and if you are not into the settings you won't enjoy the grind. Fallout is a much more accessible RPG.

you just have to really believe in your character and the story and shit to give a fuck about these games and all the 'amazing' armour and stuff that's out there. my problem is i don't. the storyline sucks balls in the first-place and reads like a crappy fantasy novel that you'd get from games workshop or something. then there's the fact you can't show off to or fucking ruin anyone else's shit because it's entirely single-player. so you're locked in this world, doing a story you constantly ridicule for its cliché and predictability, doing quests for computer characters you don't give a shit about in any way, shape or form... and even then, you can chang the game difficulty and console hack to get exactly what you want. what is the fucking point, people.

Not that the series is bad per say, but it's just that...seeing people who would never crack open a book suddenly circle around that series because of the hbo show strikes a nerve. A part of me wants to storm into every game of thrones thread and scream "read a real book" to all of the people discussing it.

i quite like it. imo you don't have to give a shit about the background story (although following the main missions is quite fun), i've spent the past week on it running around stabbing annoying people and setting crabs on fire. and you can keep chasing that epic gear and stuff but really i just like the pretty armours :3

oh, i wasn't aiming anything at nuk. he doesn't do english. university rankings and reputations mean very little when it comes to actual subject/department quality (teaching and research). i know yale is a world-class university, one of the best as a university-as-institution... research, money, influence, prestige, etc. but this english class isn't anywhere near as intense and complicated as i expected a 'yale' english class to be. though i am reading it for master's level and this is probably undergrad. i guess i was just sold on the 'brand' prestige of the uni and expected the course material to be this super insightful genius-level english that would enlighten me to many things. it hasn't at all. a really cool concept though. i think more unis should do it.

@Uzi there's a section of iTunes called iTunes U or something like that and they have a whole bunch of lectures and seminars (I think mostly audio) from several schools, including MIT and Stanford
