BF2S Forums Battlefield 3 - Main Thread

If they want to outcompete the CoD series in a race for obsolescence, then they're starting down the right path...what made the BF series endure this long is all of the things that set it apart from CoD, and here they are trying to make everything sacred more console-friendly/CoD-esque.

If B2K is a bunch of small-ass, butchered versions of the BF2 predecessors, then I will probably be done with BF3 in less than 4 months total time. 

Pretty sad considering how much time I sank into BF2. (which is another type of sad)

they guy that posted it there said he got it from someone who claimed it was official. look farther in the thread there is a post of the actual wake from the B2K vids where you can see that there is no carrier in the middle. the concept art shows a listing wrecked carrier there but even though dice has done some messed up shit lately I refuse to believe they are so stupid as to put the carrier that is the main spawn in the middle of the map.

Sad thing is if it turns out to be real I wont be surprised since my standards for Battlefield games has lowered.

I've decided it's definitely fake. The carrier in BF3 is the same as BF2 and isn't shaped like that at all. Plus it looks copied directly from google maps as has been pointed out.

I'm hoping for some sort of rendition of this:

I could hear it playing in the background of those 'awful gameplay' videos of karkand and oman.

As for Karkand, it's the whole map except the Factory. You can tell by the screenshot I posted. All the flags on the west side of the river are counted for, as is the one right after the bridge, and in the second or two of footage at the warehouse you can see a flag there too (although it's not in the right place). And that takes up all the flags.

I don't really mind though, the factory was really out of the way. I'm just happy they're releasing big maps.

Plus here's an in-game picture of Wake. The carrier is where it should be.

Money talks, not the opinion of PC gamers. While we all don't want bf series to become like COD, the fact remains that it sells a shitton of units. They want to make a game that sells massively AND appeases the gamer, that's why we're stuck with a half-ass hybrid.

I should probably expand on that

It's a great little tool of you stay at the flight ceiling and spot enemies. There's a bit of tactic to it, too. You can't keep everyone spotted at once, so you've got to zoom in on certain flag points when your team goes to attack them, then pick another flag when that one's being captured. The MAV will also lock on to any enemy equipment and kill it with a click of the LMB - a great way to stop people spawning at flags when they're captured by your team.

You get 30 points every time someone kills someone you've spotted, the points rack up quickly.

Sounds boring, I used it for the first time today with sisco resupplying and got 10+ kills and a lot of lulz and rage.
