That's what annoys me about the theories.
It's interesting I suppose (in a sci-fi movie sense), but you can simply look at America (or simply just civilized societies in general) from 1900 to 1970...we went from horseback to the moon, from iron-framed buildings to towering steel superstructures, etc.
It's amazing how fast technology can advance in a short period, and piss-poor historical records of the fact are no reason to doubt that humanity was capable of it, completely on our own, in the past.
