Ok......I definitely understand the potential benefits to having a good joystick and gaming mouse.  I have a Logitech 3d Pro on order to replace my 13+ year old Raptor flight stick (half the buttons don't work anymore half the time).  My trigger hardly ever works anymore, so I have basically had to kiss gun kills goodbuy in jets.  The button that switches between missile and bomb mode has a tendency to go for long periods without working (I've gone whole round not being able to switch).  I can't believe the numbers of kills I've failed to get because of these problems.

My next purchase will be an MX518 gaming mouse.  I could use a few extra mouse buttons for certain functions I   wish I could access easier (like program a button strictly for pistol, rather than having to scroll with the wheel).  I have a 6 year old mouse that came with my ancient Compaq Presario desktop (that is long, long gone).  Hopefully a nice gaming mouse will be more responsive and gotta love more buttons.

So, cutting back to the chase after the rambling.......what are the potential benefits of having a "gaming keyboard"???  I just can't figure it out.  To me, a keyboard is a keyboard........especially considering I use maybe 7 or 8 keys on it.

Now.......I'm not here to say that people who get gaming keyboards are dumb.  I'm honestly asking for people to give me some feedback on why they think gaming keyboards may or may not be worth the seemingly excessive prices they go for.

Yeah, ive got a normal keyboard, but it is a nice one, got a zoom slider for my aimbo........*cough* documents, and its also got some hotkeys, number 2 is binded to the 'field

I like side button mice, but I keep pressing the buttons......

I would say gaming keyboards may look good for lans, but they only have a few xtra functions, and pretty much screw your computer over for touch typing documents, which is bad for Students/Workers from home

Only my two cents though

i use a laptop that i sorta customised from a Gateway 8550GB

so the keyboard is standard.. and a LOT easier to press the keys faster as theres less effort involved..
and my good mouse broke when i threw it at the wall in a fit of rage against a streak of 27 teamkills on wake island from fucktards driving everything possible in the game in front of the jet I was trying to use..
so i went out yesterday and bought a cheapass £5 optical mouse.. and its BETTER than my old one lol..

screw spending 25 quid on a good mouse when one for a quarter of the price works 4 times as good

we lost that round shortly after the last teamkill...

Get a regular layout keyboard, but get one that is backlit. My friend has one it makes looking for keys in the dark so much easier.

Many times i have jumped from a building to end up dying. Just because I lost the 9 key. More annoying though, Ive pressed the power key instead of F12, which turns my PC off

I have a MX1000 Logitech mouse, but a standard kb. I guess if you are gonna get a kb get one that is easy to use and that can have three or more keys pressed at the same time, so you don't have to lift off another key to use something like the commorose, especially when flying a chopper.

I used to use a regular kb, but now I use a nostromo n52 (gamepad).  It seems to work a lot better for me.  A lot of it has to do with personal preference, though.  I know people who have tried the nostromos, but didn't like them.

Saitek Eclipse are good keyboards. They are back-lit and the keys are sotftouch which makes for a nice feel and  quieter in operation

The MX518 is the best mouse period, if you only need ONE side button, be cool and make your e-penis grow and order a G5.

The best keyboard I have ever used is the Logitech Elite, but Logitech DISCOUNTINED IT AND I CAN'T FIND ANOTHER ONE FOR MY NEXT COMPUTER GRRRRR!  The next keyboard I buy will probably be the G15, I've heard misc reviews but it looks pretty sweet, and I can use those extra macro keys in games.  The price is fricking rediculous though for a f-ing keyboard!

Joystick I have a cheap Logitech Cyborg Evo, it's alright, I don't use it much and right now I'm trying to sell it because I don't play BF2 that much anymore.

I have an MX518 and a G15, and I love thew both! keyboard looks great with the lights, i used the macro keys to open up all my main apps on my desktop, and I use it some in BF2, though they'd be really helpful for MMORPGs.  The macro keys arealso useful for progrmming commands, like battlerecorder or XML stuff. THe screen is also nice, its a good clock, but when gaming I usually use it for fraps or teamspeak.

I use the Belkin Nostromo N52. It's nice, no more dancing all over the keyboard. You can program over 100 keys or even macros to it.

I use a microsoft natural (ergonomic) keyboard, and have for the past 8 or so years.  I just can't get away from it and the way it fits my hands so perfectly.  But it takes a lot of people some time to getting used to typing on a split keyboard.  My advice is to get a keyboard that is comfortable in your hands and has the features you want.
