I just found out my teacher, who's an aged man, finds the act of opening a door for someone sexist in that it's implying inherent weakness in women. Seriously, I've opened many doors in my time for everyone - women, men, children and elder folk and not once did I think that the act was anything else but a gesture of politeness. What's everyone's thoughts on this?
well i think he's speaking more to chivalry than common courtesy.

He is right in the chivalry sense, wrong in the common courtesy sense. But then again you could be opening the door for a woman as a chance to get in her good books rather than because you think shes weaker than you.

Teacher is a moron.

I like the Zulu approach better, the man goes first - and deals with any lions or snakes in the room.

My thought is that 90% of the women I know talk about how they want is nice guy that will be a gentleman around them. They talk about how chivalry is dead, and something as simple as a guy opening a door for them would be amazing. These same women have haven't had to open a door for themselves since high school, and just don't notice the flocks of nice guys doing sweet things for them, and they all end up dating abusive douchebags bad boys...

So ultimately, you should give the women what they want... If THEY think it is chivalrous, it is. If THEY think it is sexist, it is... Either way, they will probably never notice.

You can't win with that type, you hold the door open they don't notice or think you're a sexist pig, you don't hold it open they definitely notice and think you're a sexist pig.

They're mostly little princesses.

It's a win-win. You get to stare at her ass.

You need to know when to take your eyes off her ass and see if she's holding the door open.
If not it can be embarrassing, or a great conversation starter.

We have stairs at work, and two girls with the most epic asses I've seen - excepting the internet.

Hey guys, I'm writing a paper on gender discrimination in the United States and I keep coming across this figure that women encounter a "glass ceiling," earning roughly 70-80% of what men earn. My question is that, is this due to discrimination or merely the choices that women make, such as vocation, hours worked, lifestyle, etc (which are mentioned in the video below)? Please provide trustworthy sources if possible.

^ That link seems to refute much of what's discussed in the video but I don't know how legit and unbiased womensmedia.com is.

Thanks.
Are you allowed to present both sides of the argument in one paper? There is still gender discrimination in the US, but the wages are largely up to the jobs people choose, and the ones women can get involved in are way more varied than before. They can be pressured to enter one of the more traditional fields all they want (which could be called a discriminatory practice in itself), but they can still choose something else.

We have been taking the stairs a lot as a part of this whole "be healthier" push... I love it when they walk up the stairs in front of me... 5 floors go quickly with that at face level.

I've held the door open for all kinds of people and have had it held open for me by the same. Unless they're honestly picking up piggish vibes of smug patronization from the door-holder, only someone with a chip on their shoulder would think anything ill of it.
