Sorry for the OT. Let's keep it on the IRNV.

Do you think IRNV scopes are overpowered?

No | 50% | 50% - 25 | ||||
Total: 50 |
When it does get nerfed I'm switching to the 3.4 PKAS scope. It's the best scope other than the IRNV, In my opinion.
I'm doing wonderfully with the default weapons. I don't see how the A91 or SCAR are 'leagues ahead' of the M16A3/M4A1.
And above your tomb, the stars will belong to us.
I look at it this way. If you have to ask the question in the first place then the weapon/option is probably overpowered. I love my default weapons. Everything but the 74u. -_-
NV technology sure has come along way since the NVG in SF.
SF had a way more realistic system compared to BF3. I miss that.
RE: tweaking taclights:
I just don't see them being able to perfect the levels of the lights. The only time I can see a light being that blinding is if you've been in pitch black for over a minute and someone shines it on your face. Half of the player models are wearing polarized goggles anyways (and don't get me started on the ejection ports!!!!). It just seems dumb overall.
OT:
The IR scope would be fine if it wasn't like an IR scope mixed with a thermal scope, with enemies that look like humanoid lightsabers as a result. They simply glow too much. The way the background itself looks through the IRNV would work just fine in areas that are actually low light. JMO...

There's nothing wrong with my post, I stated night vision technology has advanced since the old night vision goggles of SF, to the modern NV scope of BF3.Cybargs wrote:

The infrared vision reminds me of wall hacks.
I unlocked these on the first support weapons a few days back and tried them out.
Needless to say is switched classes since using those scopes just made me feel so dirty (and not in a good way).
It never made me feel like i finally had sick l33t skillz t0 pWn teh n00b5 with my uber kewl n3w unlock, it just felt like a point and click-game.
Now theyre probably going to add some retarded counter like a cold blood perk to the game and call it balanced instead of just removing them, because that would piss off 50% of the players that suddenly realise they cant get above a 0.5 KDR without it.

iirc the beta IR scopes had heat signatures everywhere, but for some reason in the full game ONLY players and vehicles ever light up.
It was pretty balanced before, you couldn't just go "oh look a splash of orange, lets shoot at it and get a kill im so pro"

yeah and OT: heatseekers should be disturbed by fire , and shuld be able to fire even if not locked on, same as for laser guided/atgm/whatever complicated names they have for "guided missile" oh and I miss the eryx and sraw / AT4Lucien wrote:

sure the rpg and smaw are good because they need somewhat skill to hit moving targets at range but the javelin seems just like shit (no I haven't got it my self yet) I was in a tank on some urban map(dont remember the name) and I know that when I heard the lock on sound and no enemy vehicles around that it was a javeling , and thought oh now I'm doomed since I had rpg's all over me already , but it didn't seem to do more damage than regular at weapons...
Yeah, I used it once and laughed and never used it again because it was so gimmicky. Who would've thought it would be so kingly.Lucien wrote:

They certainly make the game a lot easier based on the amount of people that top the scoreboards using the IRNV, and based on the 2-3 experiences I had picking it up, HOWEVER, I do perfectly fine without it. If you can spot enemies "normally" (and it's not that difficult based on the way sometimes you see healthbars, orange names, and dots on the radar if they've been spotted) then the other sights are just as good.
And I don't know about the really late level unlocks, but the first 2-3 new guns you get for each class aren't that much better than the defaults. I love the M16A3 and the M4A1, same with the AK74 and the AK74u.
In fact, unless it's changed since the beta, I think the M416 sucks compared to the other assault rifles.
A little off topic: I don't know if the game got a lot easier since BF2 OR if hit registry just actually works. I can remember being upset because of shots that don't register like 75% of my games. Now with most guns I can shoot a burst or two at someone and they'll go down no questions asked... But I just think that makes it more fun because the other guy has the same opportunity to shoot you as well.

Tried the IRNV last night, quickly put holo back on.
PKA 3.4x scope is equally as sick as the IRNV IMO

Yeh in the beta the IR scope helped in dark areas and seeing slightly into bushes but was total shit in well lit areas - you couldnt see more than 25m or so. When you fired smoke from the gun would completely obscure your view. Have no idea why they changed it because it was still very powerful in the right situations (ie. low light/concealed enemies).Lucien wrote:

IR scope is awesomesauce.
I use it on an M4 with the 3 round burst, on hardcore, I can rape!
3 round burst towards the neck is instant death in hardcore, when you run round the corner with an ir scope on and see 4 guys in a bush, a second later all of them dead and your reloading, its just awesome, I hit 55-0 in game using this method in the first 5 mins before i had to suicide as no one would give me any ammo, then got kicked for "aimbot" because of the absurd k/d ratio.
