I was unaware of an AN94 in BF3. The lack of the AEK's recoil in BF3 reminds me of the AN94 in BC3, and it's extremely high rate of fire.

I've just stuck with my m416. No need to burst fire when you just hold down m1 and still have 100% accuracy
i know that the m416 is probably better but i'm using the m16a4 now. always had a thing for burst-fires.

Looking forward to a decent final confrontation with the big bad in the campaign and I'm lying in a New York street fighting an invisible man. Stupid bugs...
Edit: Okay, finished the campaign. Is that really what they decided to finish on?
Edit 2: Someone should give game developers a lesson in how to do credits. The idea is that you want everyone's name to flash on the screen, not to give animator #2493872 exactly the same time as the head animator. I did see that Andy McNab was one of the military advisers so that's pretty cool.
Okay final thoughts on the campaign... not as bad as the battalion of armchair critics led me to believe. It was a solid competitor to the Call of Duty campaigns and it varied enough to stop it from getting boring like the last CoD campaign I played, (World at War.) It was far too scripted and restrictive, a lot of the time you felt like rather than being a player or a character in the game you were an obstacle for the NPCs to get around. Too big a proportion of the game amounted to rail or turret shooting, especially in the early stages where it felt like the NPCs were planning to do everything for you. This seemed to fix itself once the second act rolled around and it became much more engaging and balanced, although still far too much of the game was governed by needless QTEs. DICE needed to trust the player more. The story, while standard modern shooter fare involving imminent terror attacks, was well told and well paced. Characters were left a little undefined which was a shame because the mandatory dramatic deaths I though were well done, not kind of "hey look, i r serious" as I'm told the numerous MW2 ones were but decent. I suppose given the short length and the number of characters their development was done as much as possible. I think overall it was decent despite numerous faults, what it did right generally made up for what it did wrong for the most part. Voice work was done well as was the dialogue itself. It didn't hurt that it looked fucking fantastic too, even on my shitty old low-settings-only PC.
Ending: yeah, a bit of a disappointment. given that most of the time we've been living through Blackburn it would have been more satisfying to see a nice little redemption scene, (even if it would be a little cliche.)
Solid but flawed. A decent bonus addition to a game that was always going to be all about the multiplayer anyway.
Speaking of which, that's what I'm going to do now.
