That case seems great. Very nice little rig.
Yeah i love that case. Nice.
Lian Li if I'm guessing right.

I have a PC-V1000B. The thing is marvelous. Only problem, with the inverted tray I have to be careful of certain heatpipe configurations. The other problem is that the PSU compartment is way too small for some of the larger units.

So I still have my 6800 Ultra/AMD Athlon 64 3500+/2GB DDR400 2-2-2-5 stuffed in it. It dual-boots Win98SE and WinXP, so is pretty good for middling games that are slightly more than what dosbox is meant for, but that can't run very well on Vista or 7.

Here's what I've been tinkering with over the past couple of days:

Chassis: Cooler Master HAF-X
PSU: Corsair CMPSU-850AX 850W
CPU: Intel i7-2600K
CPU Cooler: Prolimatech Megahelms Rev. B + 2x & 2x Antec 120mm fans
RAM: G.SKIL Ripjaws X DDR3-1333 4x4GB 7-7-7-21
Mobo: Asus P8Z68-V Pro
Video: EVGA GTX 570 2.5GB
SSD: Crucial M4 128GB
Sto: Seagate Barracuda XT 3TB
BR: Lite-On Blu-ray burner + 3D playback / Lightscribe
Almost ripped the mobo straight out and sent it back until I realized that I forgot to plug the 4-pin into the motherboard. Bloody wire was modular and hiding in the bottom of the PSU's box.

Pics forthcoming.

had a buddy who graduated and got hired straight out of college for a 60k a year job. bought a nice computer but ended up not having time to use it. straight up gave it to me. sometimes luck does shine on me.

anyway, WAS:

CPU: AMD X2 3800+
MB: ABIT AT8-32x
RAM: 2gigs
VIDEO: 8800gts G92 (512)

Now

CPU: Intel Q8400
MB: Asus p5nd
RAM: 4gigs
VIDEO: 5770

not like it'll run bf3 on max or anything but an upgrade from computer I bought in the summer of '06 fer sher.

It's alive...

It's ALIVE!

IT'S--ALIIIIIVE!!

So, Windows 7 x64 is installing nicely on the SSD. Here's to hoping SSD caching on a spare partition will go smoothly. The Haf X with two blue fans on the CPU cooler is damn blue. Thank god you can turn some off on the front panel. I think for the extra space behind the MB tray alone (and extra room in general) that the chassis was a worthy investment. I like the 5.25" mounting system, but the 3.5" is questionable. The pins don't quite want to fit into a hard drive casing, so shoving the damn thing back into its rack takes a small bit of force. 2.5" installation was smooth, however.

Making room in my crowded home office to stick this thing was the greatest chore of all.

Starting my build.  This is from yesterday:

https://static.bf2s.com/files/user/12050/motherboard.jpg
https://static.bf2s.com/files/user/12050/cooler.jpg

Installed teh SSD's to the hot swap bays and then installed the basic stuff.  Going to get the 580 3072mb today and also run the PSU\cable management.  Memtest overnight to let it all kinda burn in and test... then install OS on Saturday!

Gotta say, the 800d is a fucking great case, absolute dream to build in.

Card just arrived

pretty. what did you upgrade from? that sorta build is a one-in-every-5-years for me.

edit: all you need now is a decent keyboard!

To be quite honest Uzi, you've inspired me to get a mechanical.  Wifey is getting me one for Xmas.  My keyboard at home isn't bad but its aging..  The keyboard and other stuff in the pic is my workstation. I did the build at the office since all my tools were here and we have a proper lab.

I also prob didnt need to upgrade (old rig X58,i7 920,6GB DDR3,300GB Velociraptors RAID 0,ATI 5850), just got the itch to build a NIIIICE system.  Had a good year too (professionally), thought I would reward myself.

I'll prob sell the old rig, or just hold on to it, havent got that far yet.

Whiteroom, yea, it looks super tiny, lol!

*One thing I love the most about this new build is how quiet it is.  Coming from the Antec 900 with two 10K RPM drives and push pull Sycthe Mugen cooler to this case with the SSD's and the Corsair water cooler is like night and day.

I think the 580 is quieter than the 5850. Although I havent put the card under load yet.

you won't regret the decision to get a mechanical. just make sure you do your research and get one with switches best-suited to your everyday uses. don't get a keyboard with cherry mx black switches if you're going to be doing a lot of typing, or browsing. your fingers will not thank you for it. but yeah, lemme know how you get on with that. your keyboard at the end of the day is your main interface and point-of-contact to your computer, and i think it makes a lot of difference (tangible and intangible) when you have a quality piece of tech on your desktop.

nice builds like that always make me hardware horny for a new GPU or something. then i remember there are no games anywhere near worth the £400 graphics card cost. such a shame that pretty much every single game released in the DX10/DX11 generation has sucked balls. the best games are games i could still play on max settings with my trusty 8800GTX. graphics quality has increased, but gameplay has gone down the toilet for the 'oooh pretty!' appeal.
