I wish I could camp out in NYC for over a month and get that much attention for doing nothing.

Nope. No bailouts. Let the feds referee and make sure the states keep their fiscal house in order.

"too big to fail", domino effect etc. Unless you would want to give the fed special powers to interfere in state policy it doesn't approve of I doubt it's going to work.

Then again you have the advantage of sharing a common language across states giving people the opportunity to move and find work elsewhere. Might not be such a bad idea actually. Though why would anyone with money want to live in a state that's completely socialist? It would never be able to sustain itself.

Because of all the benefits socialists like to tout: educated, healthy workforces. Let's see that benefit tested

You know it won't work. Both the upper and lower class are motivated by greed, if one state touts 5% income tax no benefits the other 60% with benefits guess where all the rich people are going to live. The welfare state would automatically fail because the rich are needed for it to sustain itself.

You'd be going backwards not forwards. The idea has social strife written all over it.

Really? Because that concept is working quite well in Texas. They have no state income tax, limited social safety nets, and the economy is booming while the rest of the nation is flatlined. Businesses are fleeing the blue states where unions and regulations have made it a nightmare, for Southern states where the people are quite happy to have the jobs and lack the sense of entitlement their northern brethren have built up over the decades.

The funny part is that a large number of people from California relocated there to find work. They brought thelir politics with them; the same politics that forced them to change states to find a job in the first place
