Destroying troops and supplies used to bomb civilians isn't overstepping at all, infact I would say it wasn't taken far enough, any rebel artillary shooting at towns should have also been bombed. Anymore than a dictator has an mandate to rule his people?

Of course it's likely. There's always some powermonger in the back waiting for a vacuum to fill. It's astronomically more likely than 'grassroots democracy' taking shape. Hell, the US was a stones throw away from crowning Washington as King. We got lucky that he disliked power rather than craved it.

Is it? With all the foreign interference thrown into the equation nowadays I believe it's going to be quite hard to compare this situation to any other revolution throughout history. Statistics doesn't do much either because that would be ignoring the differences between revolutions, which at times can be quite huge. It's not something you can put in a graph.

Though I'll agree it's a definite possibility. The dust will have to settle first and then we can get a clearer picture, we still don't really know what groups are involved, what they want and how they intend to achieve it.

Whatever the case Gadaffi had to go sooner or later, dictatorship can't survive indefinitely and I don't think we've done the wrong thing by getting involved.

Because of all that involvement, what is most likely to occur is a western-favorable puppet in a dictatorship role a la Mubarak. Europe and the US wouldn't spend all that time and money ousting Gaddafi just to see an anti-West prime minister (or whatever) sit on top, even if he is democratically elected.

I don't think we will have to do much to get a gov thats indifferent or friendly to the west. Unless the Gadaffi loyalists suddenly miracle a victory out of nowhere whatever government comes next, it would have to acknowledge our help in their revolution.

The argument in the video wasn't even oil, it was a currency switch and they used Iraq as an example of the US invading a country because it wanted to switch currency.

Libya was already well-connected to the international oil market with Gadaffi. Invading for that reason does not make sense. I'm sure it played a role but a marginal one, yes I believe that were we given a UN mandate and the Arab League asked us to intervene we would have regardless of the oil.

even when it was against nazies, whom pretty much everybody considered pure evil to be destroyed horribly, first a war was declared, and when the war had been won a trial was held to examine the evidence and on that basis determine who was "dictator" and all that jazz.
today they simply name whoever they don't like a "dictator" and bomb him. see the difference?
