My friend and our Mayor is in the process of twinning our little district with Gaza City. Its causing a shit storm here in Northern Ireland.

What is shocking is you see the Israeli media machine kick into action even in our little district of 20 000 people. We have had 2 visits from the Israeli ambassador, dozens of articles and letters to the local media from Israeli pressure groups. Meetings, rallies......all organised by "friends of Israel" (whoever they are) They only do this in Protestant unionist areas, ofcource turning the who issue into a religious matter with now the Catholic Nationalist and moderate protestant people of the district supporting the twinning and the Right wing Protestant people supporting Israel. We how have Israeli flags popping up in certain towns like Bushmills where they make the whiskey.
The proposal is that we Twin with the Gaza Council and we build a Moyle District children's play ground in Gaza City.
Let me also remind you all that our first minister (joint president) is Martin Mc Guinness, CO of the Derry IRA for a decade during the height of the troubles. So we know abit about forgiveness, conflict and how to resolve it.
Its clear that Israel has a global machine in place to ensure that the Palestinian people are continually perceived as the aggressor. It goes both ways.
