Considering I'm more than 2x as old as XP and I highly doubt your ownership of a time machine, I don't think you've been doing support for XP longer than I've been alive, much less anyone on this forum. Thank you for playing, please come again.

Yea, it's a pretty horrible program. My company is going to be replacing it sometime in 2012 with an entirely new platform - I can't wait.

Just love how Lotus notes will silently fail to send, without saving to drafts, without notifying user.
Lost network connection? We'll just silently send emails to /dev/nul.

Or randomly go stupid and endlessly stay at the login screen.

Nice.
Well said.
Considering the issues I've been having with Lotus Nuts the last couple weeks, it amuses me to think of the line "a lot of unwanted sex" every time I use it.

Fortunately, our helpdesk is rather responsive.

Thank fuck I'm no longer in the IT/IS field.
Dial helpdesk,
"hey, shit's broken.  Fix it, please."
Go do something else.

because clearly he can only send emails with lotus notes...

lotus notes has pretty horrible integration with Outlook as well.  Reformats emails with pictures embedded and resizes tables.  I think it also turns excel tables embedded in an email into an image >.<

i used the global helpdesk (essentially a privtae chat room where ru4sexeschat would be somewhat weird) to contact a representative who reset my password.  She was called Lisa.

although i hate lothus notes i am provided with a unlimted inbox (currently at 2.6GB) which is awseome as clearing out email is a ballache to say the least.

once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

Turning off now requires you to hover over the bottom left corner, click on settings, then on the power icon, then on Shutdown.

I like how they're trying to make it cross-compatible with PCs and tablets alike, but they really seem to be forcing it down people throats the way the UI is designed.

Although I can somewhat see the logic in making everything tablet-y by default, since they'd probably be fucked if it were the other way around.  I've seen videos of the installation, and I hope that they add an option to choose which platform you're installing it on, that way the UI is already optimized for it.

How is it even possible that they're that ignorant?  Like I could just be like WOW, THAT'S PRETTY DUMB LOL but that's really just not acceptable at all.  I really want to look forward to Windows 8 but there's a lot of smaller changes like this and the start menu that don't logically make any sense at all, they're either for flashiness or just for the sake of change

I am pretty sure the Metro tiles will be an option but I imagine most people will be using the standard desktop on their home PCs. It wouldn't surprise me, however, to see a rash of convertible laptops (I'm praying for that market to grow, actually) that also have capacitive screens. Resistance screens are so annoying and lack the extra features a capacitive gives you.

I tried to install the dev preview this afternoon but when the computer restarts it's just a blank black screen with a mouse cursor I can move around. Wondering if the ISO was corrupted during the Chrome download so now I'm downloading it with IE9 and going to retry it. The thing that annoys me is the Microsoft USB creator tool for Win7 is supposed to work with Win8 but doesn't at all on my computer. Used UNetbootin to create the bootable USB stick and I'm wondering if that had something to do with it since I've not had very much luck with that program in the past...

Then they'll get around to implementing Microsoft Direct Darkness 3.0 Beta Release Candidate Alpha.
