If that 260 is anything like mine then you will be playing it on low and barely managing 40fps, its not a very great card.

Honestly get at least a 400 series card if you can't afford the newest 500s.

Oh wait my bad. 260 GS? I was thinking it was one of those 260 GTX (216). So yeah you're going to be playing on low.

changing my 58701gb, need a new one.
I'm thinking a 2GB graphic card this time, since i need to play at 2560x1600.
What do you guys recommend?

2GB HD6970 is what I've got and I'm really happy with it. But if you want to spend a bit extra the GTX580 or HD6870X2 are good options.

There is the GTX590/HD6990, but those are way too expensive in my opinion.
What are some good laptop options for bf3?

For 260$ I got a 2GB 560ti and i'm fairly confident it can handle the game on high settings without much trouble. It make's the 570's pointless due to the comparable power and seeing how the 580's are selling for 500 and don't have enough improvement in performance, this is likely the best overall Nvidia card to consider for the game.

Am I wrong in assuming going for the higher framebuffer over a small increment in other areas would be a good idea for this game?

To be honest at the resolution he is running (2560x1600) he will see a noticeable difference between a GTX560Ti and a GTX570 (or HD6970).

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/nvi … 845-9.html

As you can see in this benchmark, the GTX570 does have a reasonable lead over the 560 Ti. A consistent 45-70fps is going to feel a lot better than a consistent 37-55fps. The HD6970 generally performs better at 2560x1600 than the GTX570 as well.

But yes, in general the GTX560 Ti and HD6950 will be the choice cards for BF3 for most people.

That's the 1gb 560, i'm thinking a game like BF3 would run better with more onboard memory, what with the sheer number of textures that need to be rendered with huge maps.

And this will be mightily important in the near future, how do you think dual 6990m's will fare?

Doubt it'll be any good, Llano already sucks compared to i3 in everything but graphics. i5 will be still superior to anything AMD can offer

Yep. Good mediocore CPU, exellent integrated GFX, yet sucks for gaming and heavy computing.

It doesn't suck for gamin at all. It destroys an i3 in games, yes it can't match an i3 in cpu intensive prigrammes, but that wasn't amd's aim.

£1800 total but that is with the £300 monitor and £90 mouse

Computer stuff in the UK is crazy overpriced compared to the US though, so probably around $2100.
