I hope you'll still be able to join friend's matches through steam and maybe even xfire. A lot of games are getting away from that.

What is the deal with this game. The jump from CS to CS:S was a pretty big one graphically and thats really the only reason to revamp the game if you are leaving everything else the same is it not?

I think they're making a new one for a few reasons.
Firstly so they can release it as something new on consoles, because there is currently no CS there at all. Secondly they said they wanted it to be an eSports title, and they're going to be adding all the tournament back-end stuff from Dota I guess to make it work better there. Thirdly if they started adding molotovs, changing map layouts, changing how all the guns work in CS:S, everyone would go nuts. It's far safer to just make a new one.
