pricewatch, newegg, tiger, ebay

fry's, or a local computer shop (most likely will have insane prices though, imho it's not worth it)

Example:  I went into a local computer shop the other day looking at LCD monitors, I asked what was the best for gaming, he said Viewsonic VP90xx something... plus it was his last one in stock, he went on saying since this is my last one I'll sell it to you for $350 or something (don't remember exactly), I went home, checked newegg and it was $180 cheaper, I don't understand what stupid retards keep places like this in bussiness...

On top of that, that model isnt even their best model for gaming.  I consider local comptuter shops a last resort, only buy from them if you need that part the same day or you know the owner and you get sweet discounts...

Yet another vote for newegg - I've built all of my systems with parts from there and they are really nice about returns and other customer service issues.

For high end rram, crucial is going to be the best bet.

hmm... my friend built his:

1 gig of RAM
256 mb Radeon *something* video card
and some major gb of hard drive for a little over 900$

His runs on high video with no-little lag at all.

So newegg is the best huh? I think I might check them out.

Thanks all.

Newegg if you're in the USA. Overall, you won't find better prices anywhere else. I've spent way too much of my money there and they've been great every single time (around 30 orders, probably more).

They even deal with RMAs well.

Fry's prices aren't actually all that good. They just have everything under the sun.

Newegg can be so cheap because they don't actually need a store and can have their warehouses anywhere they want.

Uh, no it's not. The shipping is usually less than $5 an item and it goes down quite a bit when bundle items. Considering how much money you're saving, it's still a great deal.

Didnt Dell used to let you customize your computer and they would build it for your? Thats what I would like cause even buying the parts for a computer is over my head.

When I need something, I go to newegg.

I can think of one instance in 5 years that they haven't had something I needed. I don't even bother shopping around. I've spent well over 12k$ there and I've always had my packages delivered in 3 days

you can customize it...to and extent. you don't have any choice in the mobo which sucks imho, generally you have 1 or 2 video card choices(nothing super) and multiple ram choices mainly just in size.

if i was going to buy a computer for work or general computing i'd go to dell. if i need a computer that needs to run a hoss of a game like bf2 then i'll go to newegg and build it myself. if you can't build one yourself then just suck it up and buy one from alienware but i think they are way overpriced.
