- 1.3 award criterias (from EA forums)
I like the lowering of the time requirements, as it helps the casual gamer (like myself) the opportunity to get some of the other medals.
You forgot to post this part:
=========Ranks===========
Brigadier General
Lowered from needing Experts to needing Veteran
Major General
Lowered from needing Experts to needing Veteran
Added time 4500000 (1250h)
Lieutenant General
Added time 5184000 (1440h)

The time requirments added are weird...

ooyeahhh...!!!! it is fair! someone has sooooooo much time to play and someone hasnt, I havent. Now it will be some pleasure for me after cca 400h played.Hydroion wrote:
this isn't fair, i spent so much time and hard work trying to get expert repair and expert knife WITHOUT GOING ON A K/P server and Expert explosives. oh well, at least you can see when you got the awards so some people can prove they got this hard badges before this new patch. ahh well time makes things change. although i agree on the WCR ribbon and the medals. and the times for some expert badges ESPECIALLY vehicles has decreased so no longer will we have to put up with tks for vehicles - he says hopefully-.
All you f***ing time whores- GOT TO THE HELL!!! EA owns you
yes, yes yes!!!! is it negative karma for me after this post??? yeah, come to me baybe! I dont care!

My comment for that: f*** f*** f***. If we would go back to patch 1.12 it would be good, but lovering requirements for vehicle badges ain't good, and lovering expert explosive to 30 is too easy, and if war college ribbon w/l ratio is eliminated i have no goal anymore, so got to start to consider to buy a new game... Or just put Your name in: http://www.bf2.se/petition/ if u still want to see me playing.

I would be very happy if we could revert back to before any patch was ever released, that’s the game I liked.
I disagree. Once you get past a certain point the awards and ranks become very hard to achieve due to the high time requirements. Many people I play with who were excited about BF2 have started dropping off. You're right, the awards in BF2 is one of the things that makes the game so addictive. But, when it takes you days/weeks to progress through many of the lower ranks it gets a little depressing waiting months to progress through ranks at the higher levels. At least if some of the awards are more achieveable it will continue to fuel the excitement during that time.c4_he_was_famous wrote:
....without time requirements and other requirements that were taken away,it will make the game MUCH easier to achieve the medals and then general ranks! i think that doing this will hurt the BF2 pop. as ppl will finish the game by getting all the unlocks/ribbons/medals and ranks, which I would say are the main attraction to the game!
However, I am a little disappointed in the change to the WCR. I worked for 5 months to get that ribbon! Spent a lot of time on 16 player servers with quick matches. If you have a few clan mates on one side you can run through a lot of rounds in a short amount of time. But, I do think some of the awards might be a little too easy. An expert badge should mean just that - you are an expert.
That can't be true. Any newb can stab 1 person per game to 100, Thats stupid. Also not Expert with a knife. Being an expert is about stabbing LOTS of people in 1 round.[DEI]Bart wrote:

Removed in round requirement (LOL they are really trying to eliminate P/K servers indirectly)
yeah right..... don't think so
I could see lowering requirments for basic knife or raising requirements for vet knife just because there the same. I hope they leave Expert Knife alone.
It is pretty sad if they do change the requirements.
In order to get to the rank of General SHOULD take a LOT of time and effort.

DAMN! Now I have to suffer through...
68 hours instead of 18 as commander to get the WCR!
...
Ah well, at least don't have to worry about winning all the time...
*remembers all the yelling of "You're the worst squad (etc. etc.)" to squads*
Ah... Memories.

I am not sure if I believe everything that they said will happen. It sounds possible, but taking away the IAR requirement for the knife is kinda fishy as others have said. I think I should be getting a couple awards when I login to BF2 after 1.3 though...
Its going to really suck for those that got their stats reset for cheating now that they are giving them away at a discount.
I'm not sure how a time requirement proves your an expert on anything ... they should all be based on number of kills, repairs, heals (etc) and IAR requirements.
OM GAWD!
In a while anyone has the medals and badges. Too easy man! Leave it as it is.

You are one person who served your purpose, you paid for a game... EA got their monies worth and they hardly care if you continue to participate in it because they got their money.Jussimies wrote:

Thats completely up to you to get your moneys worth. I think once I get all of the expert badges and rank as high as I am willing to go I will continue to play, most likely will start a new account or I will stop playing bf2 all together and maybe jump on the 2142 bandwagon at that point.
I am sure a lot of the current gen bf2 players are all 1942 vets or tried to move away from counterstrike... I will most likely still be playing either way. Lowering the award requirements just means more people will be playing as a team instead of trying to lone wolf for a whole match to get some fucking awards that nobody is going to care about besides yourself.
Again the changes made to the game I feel are for the better, so I dont have people crying I am a stat padder because I am better than them and because I earned my badges before the patch, now the pointless ones that will require me to waste hours of precious gameplay just to get an expert badge have been modified.
I for one embrace any and all of the changes.
I'm bummed because it took me SO MUCH TIME to work towards finally getting medals! and I'm due for two medals in 10 days, another one in like a month.......
It sucks.
If they do all this, they better introduce new awards for people who have played for longer. It has taken me four hundred eighty-five hours to reach the 485 hour mark! (if you know what I mean) I can't believe that I worked so hard to get to finally having medals like the best guys around, and now any schlep can get them? it's a kick in the balls. I've been trying to get veteran explosives since NOVEMBER and I finally got both Veteran and Expert just this morning. I was so excited I was yelling.
As much as I loathe the woman, Hillary Clinton was right when she said that this generation of young adults expect everything handed to them. She was talking about earning 60,000 salaries right out of college, but for cryin out loud, the people in this game want the awards handed to them!
I've realized that criticizing without offering a solution is merely childish, so this is what I would recommend:
Every Player reaches a point when they have veteran everything and have to work hours and hours with nothing to go on. The problem is that people get bored during the dry spell of not receiving any awards. Rather than lowering the top line, EA should have paced the awards better so that you will always (with a little work and time) be able to attain your goal. It is my feeling that the medals should seem impossible to acheive to any private. But the progression should be gradual in such a way that by the time they've achieved, say, 2nd Lt, things will become appealing.
It just sucks for people like us who have worked hard for expert badges we have and put in long hours for the medals we have just for the whiney skill-less people to get it for free.
Perhaps have some sort of point requirement in addition to a time requirement? in other words, rather than 500 hours for a medal, make it 400 hours plus x points in each kit? that way the idling is taken care of, but people won't simply whore up the points because they're going to have to put the time in anyway?
This is where creativity should come into the picture. Unfortunately, EA feels rather than thinking it out and being imaginitive, they'll just try, try, trytrytrytry again until finally they give up and release a whole new game and start over.

I may not agree with everything you said, but that is probably the most true statement I have seen on these forums - ever. I have no problem with people who don't agree on how something should be (they should take out bunnyhopping, they shouldn't nerf the tube, etc) but I rarely see anyone who 1) Is actually willing to discuss the pros and cons rather than just blurting out explatives to the negative and 2) actually contributes by offering solutions (and who is open to criticizm of same).
I'm only sorry that I can only give you +1. You deserve at least a +.
I can see this as a good thing. Maybe if all the medals/badges/ribbons are easy to achieve.....all the medal/badge/ribbon whores that I hate because they are only in the game for themselves will get their awards and move the hell on to a different game.

I Know for a FACT some of these new requirements ARE legit. I see nothing wrong with any of the changes. After all it's a game. It's not like you can take any of these awards and hang them on your wall . . .
At least now the expert explosives badge is worth trying for.
Wish I had still been able to chuck C4 as in the good old days (pre 1.2 patch).

Will the requirements be updated to the personal stats page ? Instead of seeing all the old requirements ?
