Still still is the dubstep & drum n bass thread so i thought you meant that kind.

Yeah all that trance and maisntream house stuff is pretty popular here, but thats about it. When you go to you average popuar club the music will mostly consist of tiesto, armin van buuren and other shit like david guetta.

Not knowing of its existince made it pretty hard for me to start looking.
Good films and books get reviewed and recommended in the aminstream media and by other people that i talk with. Dubstep, drum n bass and other good electronic music however does not.

As i said, baby steps.

90% of clubs here are mainstream dance music, too. 90% of clubs only want to play music that encourages people to drink more, dance more and hook up with other sweaty people. you have to look for the good clubs and the 'genuine' music venues that put on music-for-music's sake. it's annoying that electronic music has been marginalized in mainstream culture to an accessory to a night-out clubbing, or background noise for the radio when you're at work. it's much more than that.

That sort of electronic music is pretty big here, thats not the problem (well....)

the point is that it's a gateway. people often hear foo fighters on the radio and get into rock music in a big way.

Makes sense i guess. But musical preference doesnt change overnight. IM still nt a huge fan of every 'good' dubstep or drum n bass track i hear, but its constantly changing and shifting.

Skrillex and nero (theres probably a ton more of these) just seem to take some very simple vocals, slap an unoriginal beat under and then add BOOM WHOP WHOP WHOP WHOP 3 times in a row every 1 minute.
Pretty boring stuff. I always thought that that kind of shit was what dubstep was supposed to be. Thats why i never really listened to it, or took the time to look beyond that shit.
