I'm not sure that without the TP involvement, an agreement would've been reached any earlier. There was intransigence on the dem side regarding cutting spending at all to begin with. They wanted to fix things with tax increases primarily and offered only token, meaningless spending cuts...which would've resulted in the same downgrade, as the end game did not result in a low enough debt in the outyears.
The dems are the ones having to swallow the biggest camel in these negotiations ...
But no use shifting blame back and forth, the credit rating drop is fact and your politicians needs to adress that and come up with a long term solution hopefully based on a balanced budget ... the party is over, time to clean up and everyone should do their part!
