Yepp, it's been fantastic. Those remaining are looking to return to the island as soon as the police open it up, determined to continue to fight for the ideas that Breivik hated. Good on them, I hope Breivik realises that his attack has had the complete opposite effect of what he wanted.FatherTed wrote:

Sane people don't wipe out 100 innocent civilians, just because they forgot their meds that morning, and the talking Jesus image in their toast told them to 'go forth and cleanse the ills of the world'
I don't think there is any way to prevent stuff like this or OKC from happening unless you go crazy with restrictions on everyone.

There are ways to dampen the impact however.
Also, any ex-officers under 40 have a pistol and uniform at home, so they can safely get to their respective command centers if a war breaks out.Jenspm wrote:

I can see getting a handgun being slightly easy even with strict gun laws but an auto, its almost impossible to get one here in the statesJenspm wrote:
Police have confirmed one pistol and one automatic rifle (or 'automatic two-handed-weapon', as they called it).SEREMAKER wrote:

we don't even do that here in the states ( not saying anything bad for either side ) doesn't matter if you're active/reserve/national guard all weapons are locked in the armory till they are issued out and you don't get a chance to purchase your weapon at the end of your enlistmentJenspm wrote:

I am not inciting any type of gun debate or guns are bad or whatever
Usa weren't recently invaded by a huge military neighbour so they have slightly different needs.
Rip all involved

i *think* quite a few european countries (where the threat of being totally overrun overnight due to neighbours and landmass is possible) do similar measures sere. f.ex during the cold war some headmasters in the UK were issued with pistols as schools were seen to be a place to go for supplies during nuclear attack.

Exactly. Norway's military history has always involved invasions from other countries, which is why we need our Home Guard and trained military to be able to join together safely.Cheeky_Ninja06 wrote:

Blackbelts are just whitebelts who have never quit.
Despite there not being a lot of coverage of it in our media, I would bet my life that come Monday, Rush Limbaugh will be complaining about the media coverage and how they are focusing on the fact that the killer was a "far right extremist". He'll link this to the tea party, somehow, and liberal media bias.
If anyone wants to take a look at his 1500 page (English) manifesto, here it is. I hope none of your countries would get you in trouble for downloading this.

Why would he write it in English if he was a Norwegian nationalist? Sounds like the media got tricked into pushing some ultra nationalist crap.
Fits the psycopath stereotype of the neat and tidy, middle class, white collar worker tbh. He is probably a reasonably personable character too (a friend is a psych nurse, working in a high secure prison for the criminally insane - they're all in there for murder. She told me about this stereotype and there is one person there who has been diagnosed as being a true psycopath).Uzique wrote:
