Giving more points for longer range just rewards camping. And rewarding for headshots is stupid because it's easier to kill with a headshot than a bodyshot, and even then killing them faster is its own reward. A kill show net the same points no matter how you go about it.

You must've been playing a different game than I played... Long range accuracy with anything other than single shot was pretty laughable. Did you ever even test it? If you held down on full auto from ten meters away at a wall the bullets would spray all over the place. Just because you had a bad experience with the game does not make it shit. I enjoyed it a lot.Doctor Strangelove wrote:

The laser guns were at the core of BC2's problems, so if BF3 will not have the same foundation, it will not be the same.

So long as you were sighted, you had perfect accuracy on all the guns in BC2. Hip accuracy was laughable though.Jay wrote:

Doc are you saying there is no bullet drop?
There was a big difference, yes, but no, the sighted accuracy on full auto was pretty bad. Not L85A1 in BF2 bad, but still pretty awful. It's why the AN-94 became the most popular gun in BC2. The two round burst made it a killing machine compared to the full autos and their garbage accuracy.Doctor Strangelove wrote:

AN-94 definitely fits under the laser category
It was pretty op, yeah. Aim center mass and the second round is a headshot.jsnipy wrote:

You could tap m1 really fast and get laser accuracy with any gun. Also smg's were pretty accurate for full auto
main battle tank karthus medikopter 117 megamegapowershot gg
The base deviation was zero, the deviation added per shot was very low and the correction was incredibly fast. Really the only gun that had noticeable deviation increase in full auto was the VSS. I've spec'd people, and their tracers were going in a perfectly straight line, firing full auto.
The AEK971 also fits under that category. You could fire up to 5 shot bursts with near 0 deviation. I agree with DU too, all the guns had laser accuracy if you so much as quickly fired in semi auto.jsnipy wrote:

On a side note, does anybody know if we'll have select fire in this game? Or will I have to put up with an annoying burst-fire only M16?

Pretty sure they confirmed fire selection.-Sh1fty- wrote:

.
It was like the first thing they confirmed.
And my complaints about BC2's guns are irrelevent as BF3 will have BF2 style guns, where they don't shoot all the bullets in a perfectly straight line.

Apparently, some alpha shots were released. Also seems they were released on low gfx, with rumours flying that they were done by CoD fanboys saying the game looks crap and whatnot.
Well, screw alpha-stage media. That's so far from release, there's still very much potential for change.
I wouldn't believe anything I didn't see from a legit site claiming they got it from EA or from EA themselves.

Bf3 will feature Na'avi.
I got this from EA themselves.

They have confirmed Rush will be available as a game mode right?
No, it's FFA only.
Also, Adams_BJ, a Na'vi game would be pretty cool. An FPS with bows and arrows would sort of be like a bolt-action duel in COD2 or COD5 or something. Could be cool.
I'd like to see a really cool melee combat system in games. Like a prolonged hand-to-hand battle. You can hit different buttons to counter attacks and you can also use your own attacks the other has to counter. I think it would be pretty cool.

That sounds like the shiftiest game ever.

and no bows and arrows in a FPS are not like bolt-action duels.
Well, the concept is the same. You had a weapon that takes a while to chamber another round and fire. You also have a low ammo capacity in the magazine/arrows in your left hand.

you chamber a round and that round is ready to fire at full velocity any time after chambering, etc.
when you pull a bow you can't hold the bow at full power indefinitely, maybe 30 seconds max... in almost all FPS with bows this is simulated.
unless you're talking about crossbows, then that's more akin to using a bolt action rifle without a magazine.
plus you can adjust the amount of power in a bow. can't really do that with a rifle on the fly.
