Gilbert Police: Man shoots own arm, marijuana nearby
A 22-year-old Gilbert man was arrested after accidentally shooting himself in the arm while holding two handguns at the same time, police said Wednesday.
The incident happened about 4 p.m. Tuesday at a home near Ray Road and Val Vista Drive in Gilbert.
Officials say the man, identified as Christopher Cartem, shot his left arm while holding 9-millimeter handguns in each hand. As Cartem was adjusting the gun in his right hand, he accidentally squeezed the trigger, records state.
Cartem told investigators the guns belonged to a friend who was visiting, and he was examining them on his backyard patio.
Police say a bag of marijuana and pipe were found on the table next to where the shooting occurred.
Cartem was transported to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn Medical Center for treatment. He is being arrested on suspicion of marijuana possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, and misconduct involving a weapon.

Side note:
Many agencies won't permit their guys/gals to have a horizontal/vertical side draw holster as 'incidents' (the miami vice looking 'jackass' rigs) of them shooting themselves in the arm upon drawing the weapon increase.

I could have bought one in the UK when pistols were legal and I had a pistol licence, I bought a Browning instead so I could shoot service pistol.jord wrote:

In Aus there is a minimum barrel length requirement which I don't think it would meet.

Dunblane in '96. Stricter controls on licenses so warmanesque types couldn't get hold of them would've sufficed. I wouldn't mind a pistol for my bebo/myspace/piczo sites...
