Great so as long as no one can have same sex marriage, the rest of our country can go into the tank. I guess my priorities are a little different.

No, I just prefer Ron Paul. I hate social conservatism with a passion, especially since it's all Republican voters really care about. They'll gladly vote for a socialist as long as he sings the praises of his god.

For the second time, I never mentioned Obama.

Until you can challenge any of the points made regarding Palin's stupidity (which you have so far avoided) we all agree she is a dunce and we can move on.

I'm glad that's all cleared up. Night lads.
I can't, she has said some stupid things, point is, JUST LIKE ALL OTHER politicians. Your opinion that she somehow stands out compared to others like Obama is inconsistent with your reasoning as to why one should not vote for her. Under your reasoning, no one should vote for ANYONE.
Why do we have to tread the same ground all the time? I answered your question from earlier, isn't that enough for you to put two-and-two together? Or do you need me to spell it out for you? I'm more than happy to move on, if you're happy to not come across as being so dense.

Palin has said a lot of stupid things, more than the majority of high profile politicians. People from both sides of the political fence agree with this, as this thread is but one example. The only one that immediately comes to mind who beats her in the stupid statements department is Bush.

No, I don't (combined with the many transfers), but the use of uneducated hick is a bit harsh.   Some of the stupidest things I've heard have come from the mouths of people who have hung very expensive pieces of paper of their walls.  I can't say I would support a Palin 2012 run, as I think she'd make a better kingmaker than candidate.  However, I'm just a voter; who wouldn't vote for her as POTUS.

It's interesting to read this thread and compile the reasons why those don't like her.  Apparently she's 'retarded'.

Ty seemed to gather most of the reasons in his post a few pages back.  Apparently it is a Christian thing...  If she was a Jew, at this point Ty would be anti-Semite.  I'm not sure how many of the bullet points he posted are true, (the few I looked at weren't) but it didn't matter as Palin had to spend her time defending herself instead of running.  The media could have easily 'crucified' the bamster on any of his missteps and flubs thought the campaign trail, but for some odd soroseque reason, didn't.  Funny as both candidates had them, regardless of caliber of education.  57 states from a Harvard grad?  The media couldn't go after the war vet so they went after the VP candidate.  Palin got way more of a spotlight then Biden, and I honestly think she'd a done an equal or better job than he's done in that position.

My point is that the media was pissed at Bush for shrugging them off.  They proved that point in this last presidential election about how 'important' they deem themselves.  I find the media even more pathetic now than ever as the current administration has literally gone across the street to hide meetings and has done/continues to employ shenanigans to shut them out.  But the lap dog just rolls over.  Imagine if Bush had done anything like that.  I do admire Palin for how she's treating the press.  She knows they will never like her regardless of what she does or says.  So she's basically said 'fuck em'.  So they keep on trying to hang her at every stop, inflating every misstep and twisting quoted sound bites.  And Ty will continue to believe crap like the SNL skits sells 'I can see Russia from my house' and the media stories like the 'Africa is a continent' rumors about her; and so too will the majority of the people out there who are moderate and lean left.  If I were Palin?  Alaska is looking pretty good and I love Kodiak Island.  I'd go be Mayor there.

You're confusing me for someone that actually watches the news. I don't. I couldn't care less about national politics. I'm not a member of either team so it bores the shit out of me. I did watch part of the New Hampshire debate and all I came away with is that Mitt Romney is a total sleezeball preening ass. I have no horse in this race other than a firm conviction about what I believe and what I'm willing to give up when voting for a candidate. And, when it comes down to it, my vote doesn't mean shit anyway. New York will vote for Obama with or without me.

My opinion of Palin is based on what she showed in the election, the fact that she quit her job as governor, and the two episodes of Sarah Palin's Alaska that I watched. She's an idiot. I don't want some hokey down to earth mom that 'I can relate to'. I want an intelligent, strong President with a firm grasp of the mathematics of our current debt issues who isn't going to go out of his way to shit on the usual groups of people that bigots like to kick to make themselves feel better.

The media hates her? They gave her her own fucking show on Discovery Channel and she still came across as a buffoon. How much more hand holding do you think she needs to change her image away from being a moron? She had access to the editing!

And what you (and to a lesser extent, Brinson) seem unable to grasp is that a persons intelligence is not tied up in their beliefs. I can argue with an intelligent, articulate, socialist all day long and still respect their intelligence even though we don't agree. It's generally not a persons ideas that are important, it's how they arrived at them. If they've put the effort in to actually understand the view point then I give them all the credit in the world. If it's someone that just knows a few catch phrases and has no real understanding, it's obvious and those are the people that should rightfully be called morons. Obama is intelligent because, while I don't agree with him, he does understand the core of his beliefs. Palin knows a few catch phrases but is utterly shallow and not fit for the job of POTUS.

Look, the issue is your loathing of stupidity in politics...Yes Palin qualifies, but right next to every other dipshit in office now, or in his cabinet. There is no difference.

If you want real stupidity, go for those that listed their reasons for hating Bush, and had to have Obama, then when Obama does nothing to change bush policy and in fact increases them, praises him.

Point is, Palin is no better or worse than anyone else in the political limelight right now, yet, you want to single her out as if she hold the "retarded" title exclusively.

No, I understand that.  But I don't know though if the media has really give Palin a chance to expound.

As to the bamster? He may be smart, but he's an ideologue that is rigid and unapologetically inflexible (how to hold the mop/sit in the back comments).  I question the intelligence of one that has to use a teleprompter when addressing an elementary school class, especially when you look at his recycled canned speeches.  He was just as big of a parrot as Palin.  But even if the bamster was Einstein, he doesn't align with most of my core beliefs.  While Palin doesn't either, she's closer to them than he is.  But again, I hope she doesn't run.

Creationism.
When I went to school(which was admittedly quite awhile ago), we were taught the history of the Jewish faith, Buddhist faith, a bit on Islam, Egyptian Pantheon, and ancient Greek Mythology, including their gods.

So why shouldn't Christianity be taught? I mean, hell, what's even wrong with Christianity being taught? As long as you acknowledge what you're teaching is belief of the Christian faith and not scientific doctrine then I don't see the problem. I didn't run home believing some giant snake held the word together by biting it's tail just because I learned about the Ragnarok. I don't remember parents going "woe is me, my child believes a giant serpent holds the world together!" So I don't see the problem at all.

Her idea of "debate" is somewhat silly as that would imply there's anything to debate(you can't debate faith), but I agree that having exposure to many different ideologies is a good thing.

Mostly because there are about a hundred different sects that all believe different variations. Someone will always be offended.

It's something that should be left to parents to teach.
