I recently saw a Toshiba at JB Hifi. i7, 4ghz of RAM, GT540 (not the best I know, but for a laptop...) and a 750gb HDD. $1,297 or something.
$1,800 should get you something kickarse.

If it fucks up, RMA it with AMD. I've done it before with no paperwork, just the serial. Got a replacement a week later, free of charge (minus the postage to Singapore).
