Don't know what else they could do with Knightly and Bloom. Those two characters seemed like a wrap to me.

There's always like two guys standing around doggedly watching the end credits for stuff like that while the theater sweeper's glaring at his wristwatch.

Kung Fu Panda 2:
7/10 - It was entertaining. For the most part it seemed to stay level throughout the movie. Meaning, there weren't really any peaks and valleys, climaxes, or slow parts. It was, rightfully so, like a long cartoon. I enjoyed it and laughed a lot. That being said, I don't think it held a candle to the first one.

My 9 year old daughter is trying to talk about movies like adults now, and said "After enjoying the first Kung Fu Panda so much, I was both excited and nervous about seeing the second one. I couldn't help worrying that it wouldn't live up to the hype of the first one, but knew I needed to watch it with an open mind and judge it for itself. While I couldn't help noting that it wasn't quite as good as the first one, I still really enjoyed it as its own movie."

X-Men First Class:
8/10 - I would say this is the best X-Men movie to date. No it is not, by any means, true to the comic book. Thankfully, it was also not like a Mutant "Party of Five" teen angst movie like I was expecting. I enjoyed it. We were at the drive-in, and it started thunder-storming halfway through. This movie's storyline was actually interesting enough to stay though the second half, even unable to really see the screen. And was still very good, even without the eye candy of special effects. I loved the old comics, and no, this is not like them... But frankly, a movie that exactly mimicked a comic from the 60s would have sucked. They did a good job.

Yup, 3 movies for 2 adults and 3 kids for $18 isn't too shabby. Plus it was something different. Plus it is easier to deal with a 2 year old in your car than in a crowded theater lol... We backed the SUV in, popped the back door open and the kids laid in the back on a futon, while we sat outside in lawn chairs. Was nice.

Same, if I'm expecting anything at the end or the credits track is good.

I was pissed when there was nothing at the end of X-Men : First Class ..... marvel is now known to have an extra scene but not this one

would have been awesome to have a set up for Age of Apocalypse .... something like : Xavier using a new cerbro built at the mansion and he is mind floating around looking for new mutants when he happens upon a man and he turns and faces the camera, eyes turn red and you hear him laugh, the exact same laugh as Apocalypse in the 90s cartoon

I think the Apocalypse storyline is far more suited to a cartoon that can stretch it out over a few episodes or even a couple seasons. Thanks for letting me know about the empty aftermath, though.

Syriana - 8/10

Lauded by film critics but generally described as disappointing by the average movie go-er, I nevertheless found it to be a very enjoyable and original piece of work. It tells many different stories at the same time following, among others, Pakistanis who join a jihadist movement, the department of justice which tries to uncover corruption in an American oil firm, Bob (George Clooney) a undercover agent affiliated with the CIA who gets used as a scapegoat and Bryan (Matt Damon) an economist who tries to get a contract to advise an emir of an unnamed oil rich country who tries to get his nation on the right track. When the emir awards oil drilling contracts to the Chinese instead of American companies everything goes wrong and lots of different parties get involved.

There's a lot more in the film than just what I wrote down there, but safe to say it's well worth the watch. It's not an action packed movie, it moves slowly and it does require you to pay attention (and think) if you want to follow the plot, which is basically a take on the political situation in middle eastern countries. It's not all that accurate, but I do like the film because it completely breaks up the usual Arab stereotype displayed in movies. To add on the characters displayed are all quite interesting and believable with solid performances by the actors.

Definitely recommend it to anyone with some interest in the middle east. Whether you feel it's inaccurate or completely truthful, it's guaranteed to get you thinking. A great movie that's been underappreciated and largely overlooked.

I think they have come to an agreement that they are going to place First Class into a new trilogy ..... spanning age of apocalypse through 2 movies is enough of a time slot but of course that would throw a MUCH bigger wrench into the timeline that we know from the X 1 & 2

They can do whatever they want with the X:FC reboot. As far as I'm concerned, it's divorced from the other X-Men movies.

as much as I wish that it truly is a reboot, Vaughn has said it to be a prequel

A very entertaining thriller, with some plot holes and poor/awkward dialogue at times, but overall you will want to watch this to the very end it's a pretty good story. Excellent action scenes, nice cinematography, a good way to spend a couple of hours. If you liked the Bourne series you will like this.

Spoiler (highlight to read):
The story in the end is actually pretty similar to the Bourne story

Am I the only person who liked Red Riding Hood? On Rotten Tomatoes, it got a 6% from top critics, 11% from all critics and 47% from everyone else.

I give it a 6 pushing on 7. For an average movie, would watch again.

Fist Of Fury - Jet Li

The original is easily one of my most cherished films, so I was curious to see how Jet Li and a semi modern re take of the story would be like. Excellent is what it is, the plot is more complicated but still enjoyable, the action is some of the best I have ever seen, acting etc is all right on cue. Pick it up if you enjoy Jet Li or high octane martial arts films.
