From the demo gameplay itself, after that first boss fight it seemed even Duke himself had some qualms about it being any good. As a CoD-type game, it's probably fine. But that did not 'feel' like Duke at all.
It's not CoD type, it's Halo. Get it right. Gawd.
Funny, I remember being able to carry more than two guns in Halo.
e: Could be wrong though. I just vaguely remember playing Halo on the PC.

You couldn't carry more than 2 guns in Halo.unnamednewbie13 wrote:

3, though you had to dual wield.Doctor Strangelove wrote:

I still enjoyed Halo 1, despite the rushed ending, but it doesn't mean I want all FPS's to follow the limited carry rule employed by it and CoD.
Even if it was limited to 4 guns, it would be alright. 4's enough to have a really killer arsenal.
Also this kind of Health Regen is very un-Duke. Duke wouldn't sit behind a wall waiting for blood to fall off his face, he would flip the fucker off and blast him in the face. A better answer to the health problem should have been put in.

If it was four guns, I'd still be irked about not being able to carry the full arsenal like I could in Doom, Duke 3D, Serious Sam, etc. And doesn't Duke regain "ego" by killing things? Still, I preferred the old health kits stashed everywhere method, as silly as that was. If they're going to continue a series from the bloody 90's, they should at least stay true to it.
Nah, you regen ego by standing behind rocks.
You should regen Ego by blasting a guy's face in. Or pissing on a guy's body. Duke stuff, like that. It would also make the environment interaction actually have a real place in the gameplay.

Hiding behind rocks....
Ugh, even after being pre-disappointed, I was still holding out hope.

If the women don't find ya handsome. They should at least find ya handy.
Nobody has ever proven that Duke Nukem isn't real.
I was just thinking that if they really wanted to have a low weapons capacity for whatever reason, they could give us a ridiculously multifunctional one.
And don't mention the red button in the game manual.unnamednewbie13 wrote:

Maybe something like the Metro 2033 gun system?
The simplest way, of course, would be to unlock #'s 0-9 to carry a full arsenal. Console players can bloody well use a last-weapon-used hot button.
What's the problem with using two of the shoulder buttons to cycle through all weapons?unnamednewbie13 wrote:

For more than a decade I've been cycling through weapons with my mouse wheel on the PC.
the game got bad reviews
Waiting for it to drop price before I get it.
And by drop I mean plummet.

Or that. Seriously, it's not that hard. I used to use the brackets to weapon cycle, too.globefish23 wrote:

Well that would restrict them to only 10 weapons. Don't know how many are in the actual game though, but if its more than 10 then there you go. Also scrolling through loads of weapons on a controller is a huge bitch.
Duke 3D didn't have all that many weapons, but the sheer variety felt like you were carrying plenty enough. There's no need to exceed the number bar's capacity. A two-weapon carry is just a fucking bitch. I don't want to have to keep stopping to figure out what I'm going to keep and what I'm going to drop. It's Duke, not fucking CoD.
I'll spend ten bucks max for the thing.

It's not CoD, it's Halo.
It's more like Halo than CoD. There's no iron-sight aiming, the guns don't have variable accuracy, and the movement is much more like Halo than CoD.

And it's not Halo, it's Duke Forever. But it's definitely not much like Duke 3D, aside from the voices. I've played far more CoD than Halo, so I feel more comfortable comparing DF to CoD. You can only carry two weapons and your screen pulses red when you're injured, forcing you to wait and autoheal. Bite me.
