Russian design + German manufacturing = Win
What is with the ridiculous grips on the guns you like? Just really comfortable or what?
Target pistols = target pistol grips.
The objective is to shoot as accurately as possible with a gun within the rules, target grips help get you there.

I buy guns to shoot with, not drool over how cool they look.

How do they help though? Much more stable or what? I'm curious, not making fun of them or anything.

An anatomical grip puts the forces where you want them, and can be adjusted to suit your hand - unlike a standard grip.
It can also only be held one way, unlike a stock grip which can be held differently each time. If you hold differently your point of impact will vary, even how tight you grip will change your point of impact.

For example a stock grip doesn't really help you.

You can get a different position every time eg this is how to hold a revolver entirely wrong.
https://coreth.com/~mpearce/firearms/collection/images/sw657-750x341.jpg

With a grip like this you should get a consistent placement every time.

To try to put it into context.

On a slightly more conventional looking pistol;
https://guns4u.info/wp-content/uploads/2007/09/p30_griff_schalen.jpg
HK P30 with changeable back and side grip panels.
Comes with S, M, and L.  And you can mix and match however you like, Small left, Large back, Medium right.. or any such combo.

A good grip gives you "repeatable natural point of aim".
In other words, the grip is such that you end up holding it exactly the same way every time.

If done properly, you can draw the pistol and have the front & rear sights lined up properly with your eye(s), without having to do any adjusting or correcting.  Shooting the pistol accurately then becomes as natural and reflexive as pointing your finger and saying "bang". (Ignoring a few other details).

Once you're holding the pistol exactly the same way every time, you won't get jams from "limp wristing" an automatic, odd flier shots from jerking the trigger because your finger was on the trigger improperly, etc etc.

A good grip, a decent trigger, and mechanical reliability.  All three are equally important traits of a good pistol.

Good repeatable natural point of aim, good trigger pull, and a good pistol - then you're able to spend much much less time looking at the sights, and more time being aware of your environment and your targets. Or, just being able to put more rounds on more targets "more faster".

Exactly, and as shown above pistol makers are picking up some concepts from the target world to improver usability.

I finally got a chance to go shoot my Beretta 90-Two today and decided to do a side by side comparison to the 92FS.  Accuracy wise, they're pretty similar, though I shot a bit better with the 90-Two than with the 92, though I think that was due more to the shape of the grip of the gun than anything mechanical.  I also noticed that the -Two felt a little more front heavy possibly due to the rail and the redesigned slide.  This wasn't a bad thing though as the balance and the new recoil buffer in the gun allowed me to get back on target a bit faster.  Side note about the buffer: while the muzzle flip was reduced a tad, the recoil for both guns felt about the same.  I'm told that the buffer does make quite a bit of difference on the .40 version, but I can't speak to that since I don't shoot .40.

The biggest difference I noticed between the two was in disassembly.  While the 92 was never that hard to take apart, the 90-Two was designed to make the process a bit more convenient through things such as locking the spring to the guide rod and having the disassembly latch automatically return to the locked position when the side is drawn all the way back.

Overall, there's nothing really major changed between the new gun and the original.  Instead it just seems to be a refinement of the design for ease of use, maintenance, and manufacturing.  The 92 has always been one of the most reliable guns I've owned and I see no reason why that would change with the 90-Two.

Did you buy it?
How much did you get it for and what do you think?
Doesn't look like a bad option for a short truck gun and I have a spare SKS

$200 bucks
There's a 4 month waiting list for it because it's a small group of guys making it in their shop. It gives it a modern feel and it shoots really nice. I love it.
